Well, I'll take an exception to @radroach 's theory about a bad throw out bearing causing a soft clutch feel.

I figure what he was feeling (after replacement) was a stronger pressure plate (if it was replaced) and/or a more aggressive clutch disk surface (cause it was new).

There is nothing about a throw out bearing to get "soft". It simple sits there, going round and round), until it's forced to push against the fingers of the pressure plate.

The TOB has been the go to explanation for every weird feel, noise, vibration and everything else under the sun lately and although there certainly are enough documented issues with them they have also been found to not be the problem just as many times. People are overlooking the simple answers to usually minor problems because they become so convinced it is the bearing they don't even look at anything else. There is usually no mistaking a throw out bearing going bad because the squeal will start well before failure (usually) and you will know there is something up not just think there is.

I don't believe your perceived "loss of power" has anything to do with the clutch. Are you still using premium (high test) gasoline .... ??

I don't think a bad throw out bearing would be contributing to a soft clutch pedal or any loss of power.

However, it should hold together until the expert checks it out next month.

I have used nothing but 93 octane fuel for my car. fortunate for me it's easy to come by in NJ. I'll bleed my clutch fluid soon, haven't yet gotten to that. It may just be some air like you said.
Is it strange that I've also notice a tiny bit MPG loss? It has gone from 25.1 to 23.4 , it's mostly because like I said early, i gotta give it a little more gas/rev it more to get it going.
Also my car isn't as loud after the clutch got softer. I have an Invidia N1 catback. I would set off car alarms driving through parking lots haha by accident.
Really hope the clutch bleed will do the trick.

If the expert tells my car is fine and it's all in my head, I might just get a ECUTEK tune sooner than I thought.

In all seriousness, it's probably the throw out bearing. They are so poorly designed for this car. I'm having the same issue(s).

Working on getting pictures but my TOB had side with metal sticking out. Thats what made my clutch clunky, reverse and 1st seemed loose and car would slightly rev itself like if something was dragging. Brb checking texts i got while asleep.


Here's pic, notice issue on bottom right. Bit of metal sticking out. Also bearing seem warped to anyone?

Other side:


Dealer said, "the issue was that it was leaking grease."

Wow so it might be the TOB. I've heard and seen from other sites that the BRZ's TOB can become a problem. I love the BRZ but damn sometimes I think I should have waited for a later model so they can work out the kinks

Did your dealer cover it?? and hows the car driving now?

Squeaky clutch, clutch sounding like water through copper piping when engaged, etc. I haven't even gotten it fixed yet. I'll end up replacing the clutch/throwout bearing all together at one time.

hmmmmm.........maybe air trapped in the clutch lines...?? Valve not staying closed in the clutch master or slave cylinder ..... ??
