Actually, thank you. I saw your original post months ago, poked around under the radio bezel then had the idea for my mount.

You listed a tool from Harbor Freight that I had not heard of Seamer (http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-...mer-98728.html). With the Seamer, I feel invincible (although, it takes a bit of practice to get the bend exactly where you want it). I made a template using posterboard, found some scrap aluminum, then used the tool to create my mount.

I used tin snips. They are basically scissors for soft metal. I followed the cutting with a bit of cleanup. Using a rattail file for metal, i eased the sharp edges and finished up the shape. It's very easy.

Man with all these ideas of custom mounts, I may actually run out of phones and gadgets to mount in the car!

When I get home I'll post a picture of how I used the seat mount one. The panel where the carpet runs into the plastic on the side comes off there is a bolt there. I mounted it there. I use it for my ipad. Originally I had it mounted to the seat but the seat didn't move forward all the way and my gf would bump it, but now where I have it, it doesn't get in the way and she puts her phone there when she rides with me.

For the driver side I took a regular suction mount and drilled it into the knee panel, but I'm probably going to get another setup like what I did on the passenger side because it allows for more range of motion.

I've been looking into it a lot. For people with big and heavy phones, it seems the Beat Sonic mount is the only option it seems to keep the phone stable. $36 for the mount, ~$20 for what ever holder you choose, and and ~$15 for tax/shipping.

I'll keep my phone in my pocket until I get my suspension/wheels first lol

This thing is great! I ordered the Arkon from Amazon after checking this thread for ideas last week. It was $24.95. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M8ST3Q/]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M8ST3Q/[/ame]

I got the one for 6s or 6s plus and it expands to fit my plus just fine. They have others for different phones too.

It looks very clean and stock in the car. Hubby installed it in about five minutes. We did have to go to the Napa for the right star socket, since I'd read that others had stripped their bolt.

I'm super happy with this - thanks Swolstice for posting about this mount!

Check out the Scosche Magic Mount. I use it with my iPhone 6, and it's great. Small, unintrusive (you don't have to use a vent or the CD slot), and the phone stays put even in the most spirited driving.

I use a Ram X mount, the thing is spectacular.

Easily worth the premium paid for it.

+1 for the ram mount. The modularity also allows to mount other things. I've used the same mount to hold a gopro and a small rear facing mirror to keep an eye on my daughter in the back seat
