I will second (or third) one of the magnetic mounts. I got one from Auckey on sale for $4 and it is the best /dollar expense I have done on my car, easy.

Bent ABS plastic sheet cut with regular scissors. I was using a Mountek CD slot mount but its screw was blocking the top 1/3 of my navigation screen after installing a backup camera so I wanted to place the phone a little higher. Tried an Aukey magnetic vent mount but it scratched up my vent pretty badly (you can see it in the pics) and it didn't stick out far enough even.

ABS Plastic is awesome, I wish I had access to a heat gun to properly bend it but pliers worked just fine.

Go access one at Harbor Freight. They have a 20% off coupon right on the home page for their Veteran's Day sale.

Does the ABS plastic hold it Tight? Will it slide or fall off if hard brake?

my first one was only 1" wide and it wasn't that supportive, so I widened it to may 2-2.5" and it's quite secure. THe length is 6" I curled up the top piece and hooked it over the vent trim and then slid the rest into the crevice and then snapped the radio trim cover back on, this cover is what really holds everything together.

i got the sheet off ebay, $5.80 for a 1/16" thick sheet 12"x12". This is the seller I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271491768847...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Does anyone have experience with this? Would I be able to slide my seat all the way forward or backwards?

There is a similar thread here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=84890&page=4

But here's my contribution. I like the Scosche Magic Mount as it allows for a lot of options. I wanted something that did not get in the way, and is almost unnoticeable if my phone isn't mounted.

No. You won't be able to slide your seat forward all the way, and you won't be able to access the back seat as easily as a result. Plus you have that stupid flexible extension in the way of your passenger's leg, and your passenger will keep bumping it out of adjustment.

I really like what you did. I carry two phones (a personal phone and a work phone), and I think I'm going to copy your design for a second mount so I can have both mounted at the same time.

Dang, I thought I found the perfect mount but I guess not.
