No. The HID is independent of the boomerang output as they are separate bulbs

I know I would find any reason to take my old car out at night after doing a projector retrofit on it.

I loved the cut off on my retrofit and plan on swapping out to a set of clear lens and CBI's on my BRZ. the projectors (RX350) on these cars are extremely good. I had FX-R's on my old car.
Is that from a BRZ with the Osram Xenarc bulbs?

@iLaw any update on pictures or comparisons if you ever made one?

I'm wondering if it's worth it to switch bulbs from the stock HID to Osram Xenarc and if it'll be a noticeable improvement or if that's only with the clear Sti-R lenses?

that is from the FX-R retrofit on my previous car. the BRZ projector (RX350) has a more slanted slope than the FX-R. however, even with the stock bulbs I see a good blue cutoff albeit slightly fuzzy on the BRZ headlights. with a clear lens and the CBI's, you will have a crisp blue cut off.

this is a guy who has the RX350's with STI-R clear lens and CBI's: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...l=1#post682741

There are pics, but cameras being cameras, you can't really see it. But basically, the light output is the exact same (which is good, as some bulbs have less output or a narrower beam). Nothing changes other than the colour... read on...

With that said, here are some interesting observations:

1) The startup of the bulb CBI bulbs goes through a more purple phase vs the stock bulbs. So when they start up, they are bluish/white, then deep purple and warm to their cool white colour.

2) The light colour is noticeable mostly on dark roads. (duh). The light is whiter (now a pure white instead of a "warm" white) with the slightest touch of green. Noticeable immediately compared to stock on anything reflective (ambulances, road markings, reflectors).

3) In rain, because of the colour of light, its harder to see your beam of light on a WET road, as the colour blends more into the pavement, however anything other than the asphalt of the road is lit up in a whiter light.

4) Looking at the car from the outside, the colour of the light now matches the boomerang and my Morimoto XB LED Fog lights. Which is exactly what I wanted to achieve.

5) The edge of the cut off of the low beams is now noticeably more purple.

6) Most shocking, the STOCK BRZ bulbs are Osram Xenarc 66440 bulbs. The bulbs I bought are Osram Xenarc 66440CBI bulbs. Yup. The BRZ comes with the EXACT SAME MODEL bulbs but are 4300K vs. the 5000k of the CBI models. This explains the light output, beam etc all being the same, and the only difference being the colour of the light

So bottom line: Is it worth it to upgrade to the 66440CBI? Not really; because the stock BRZ bulb is essentially the exact same thing, just a lower Kelvin.

For reference, here is a picture of the base of the STOCK bulb:
