If you are going catless, the stock muffler will sound like tin can... Quiet though.

restricting the flow with a stock cat kinda defeats the purpose of an excellent flowing header. I do have a high flow cat already. just need to figure out a muffler situation that will quiet this down. But it is worth a try for experimental purposes- when I have time.

I would drive the car for couple of hundred kms/miles as the carbon build up in the header will make it a bit quieter. Like much quieter...with that said however, if it is too loud you might want to look into bolting in a Helmholtz resonator in, or maybe even a nice hotdog resonator (use the perforated one, not the louvered one). You should not have any issues finding something suitable as 2.5 diam are the most common. You can even take the resonator you have out, and replace it with something longer.
I have 2.75 header back and is not that loud (but I have the silencers in). So I am always trying to find a way to take them out and make my exhaust quieter too! Good luck! |

You are not the only one to have suggested this. Thanks, and I will give it a try.

I went to a local guy today, who has a fix for my high volume. The Corsa exhaust has a two piece mid pipe. He is going to make a new front half with a 22" long x 4"diameter straight through resonator that he promises will quiet everything down. This is great news because I won't have to cut up any part of my Corsa system now. Going to go ahead and try the stock front pipe today, just to see. I will report back...

I've actually fabricated a 63mm front pipe with a very long resonator. To be honest, I cannot tell much of a difference in exhaust volume or note between my resonated pipe vs the stock pipe. Though it's not easy to fit such a big resonator on the front pipe.
