We've been playing around with a few different splitter ideas, trying to maximize what the rules allow us to do.
Plywood is always good for the mock up. |

Sorry for the lack of updates lately guys, we've been hard at work prepping the car for the 13 hour endurance race at VIR on the 24th.
Here's a picture of some quick and dirty bracing we made for the wing on the trunk.

I'm a fan of the bumper mounted lighting as apposed to the hood mount rally style
car looks awesome regardless. How'd that koyorad fit? Stock location still?Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk

Would love to see a couple photos of how much that light bar brightens up a road vs a photo of stock headlights, been thinking of doing this as well

We haven't gotten it out at night yet, however we did run that light bar on the Miata at it's last endurance event and all the drivers loved it. The one downside to this position is the amount of cutting required to the bumper cover and bumper beam to have it sit nice.

Here's a quick comparison between the factory lights with high beams on and high beams plus our light bars. We'll post more from this weekends race tonight.

Well here comes the post you have all been waiting for. First the good news, The car did great, we had no engine or transmission issues at all.
Some last minute things we changed before the race was a revision of the fuel gauge mounting. Since we have a saddlebag style fuel cell we weren't able to use the stock gauges, instead we have a left and a right gauge mounted in a slapped together fiberglass pod where the tweeter would have been. We also put in the APR brake cooling ducts. The main reason for this was concern about pad wear at higher temps. Endurance racing is not a cheap sport, these are some of the consumables we brought down for the test day and race. After a long drive down to VIR we were ready first thing Friday morning for the test day This was the best the car would look for a while. There were a few interesting cars at the test day that we would have loved to see on track for the enduro After Pete mowed the lawn we spent some time digging out all the grass during night practice Pete took the car off again, this time with a glancing blow against a tire wall. Some quick work with a hammer and screwdriver knocked the fender right back out. Race day! All lined up on the false grid getting ready for the flying start. A few hours into the race we were forced off track and again ended up in the tire wall. Of course we can't give up there so out came the hammers. Good as new Looking fast... if a little dinged up out on track. The light bar took a beating but still works! it survived all the damage and being dragged on it's face halfway around the track. And there she is, all banged up after a heavy day of racing. We were all very worried about oil pressure and temp during the long stints and it seems like we had no issues at all. We haven't torn down the engine to do a very detailed inspection this is just going off on how the car ran. The engine internally was bone stock, ran with our prototype oil cooler and Motul 300v 0W20 oil, nothing crazy was done to protect the engine. We did have one differential failure. We believe this was mostly due to not having enough mileage on the diff to break it in. Unfortunately when it failed it got hot enough to smoke the adhesive that held the bushings together. This resulted in us making some plates to replace to hold the mangled bushings back together. While the RR Racing brake package we had on there was fantastic, our pad selection was not. Unfortunately the BP-30 pads were just too aggressive for our tire and aero setup and resulted in a few flat spotted tires. Luckily this is an easy fix. Overall on track the car felt very solid. While not running super competitive times in qualifying we were briefly third in class before the first crash. |

Great stuff o:
I would love to drive around VIR. How much time/miles do you get out of a set of Hoosier slick tires ?

We pulled them early because we weren't quite sure what kind of life span we would get out of them, but at 4 hours the first set came off with a little bit of life left. Less camber would have extended the life of the tires and not been detrimental to grip as well.
