The longer wheelbase does make it interesting as a platform for modding though. That's the the downside of the Miata when it comes to high speed circuit racing (which is the same thing that makes it great at autocross, ironically)... twitchiness due to short wheel base.

I know it's not mid engined, but this reminds me a lot of the departed MR-S. Except with room for people and stuff.

I love the weight.

As for the HP ummmmmmmm I'm going to disagree.

But I think that with only 130HP there will likely be plenty of room left in the engine to make a good 160-180HP which would probably be pretty damn sweet for this little sucker.

I've also read that much like the Miata there is a strong possibility that the Americas version will have a higher output engine.
In fact I'd bet that Toyota might specifically be targeting the Miata and there will be a ~150HP variant for us.

At this point the 130hp is unconfirmed speculation so it is possible that all versions will have more. There is zero official information on what engine they are even using much less what the HP will be.

Looking at the front view, it feels like they wanted to make it cute and lovable yet sporty and fun. Like they took the early 2000s beetle and said, well this car was a big hit let's make it more sporty.

I can see a lot of young women gravitating towards this.

as I've said before, the best way to describe this care is "Little Tough Guy" it looks like it has something to prove and that's adorable.

"With enough room to seat four" and that image don't match.

Can't wait to get more info from Tokyo Motor Show!

Roof? That is glass at that point.
I think the little car has promise in the market but that is probably the worst possible diagram they could use in the promotion material. Just say "seats 4" and leave it at that.

Everyone would still go wild if it is announced it will have the ND MX-5 Miata's chassis.

The interior honestly looks near identical, which is leading me to believe that.

Toyota: We said "Enough room to have four seats installed in the cabin of S-FR." We never said "Enough room to seat four passengers at the same time in the cabin of S-FR."

Guys, I've figured it out. The backseats are there to achieve that 50/50 weight distribution.
