AFAIK, we have never had the opportunity to buy those parts individually through our dealers, and they're definitely not on the current UK options list - so if you see a TRD-looking car over here, you can be almost certain that it's the TRD model.

We also got a special-edition model called the "Giallo", although that was just painted yellow and had special seats - it didn't have the TRD kit. There's also a guy on one of the UK forums who re-sprayed his car in a nice shade of Renault yellow, IIRC it was after a trackday mishap.
That's very interesting! I've learned something today!

The online option list here includes a lot of the TRD stuff, but not all of it.
That's just laziness, when you sit down with a salesman to buy a new GT86 here you can pick whatever you want. At premium prices, of course.
The TRD sports exhaust, for example, costs the eqv. of $2000 / £1300.

I wonder why Toyota deploys so different strategies in different countries

To be fair, it had more than that. The headlights were more similar to the EDM/JDM ones, automatic dual climate digital controls, TRD springs, TRD rear trunk mat, TRD steering wheel and shift knob, and the seats are unique to the RS1.0 as well.

Try buying and installing just the HVAC controls and see how much it is. Also see how much those genuine Toyota headlights cost. All-in-all, I'd say it's a more than fair premium over a stock FR-S.

Couldn't be happier with my RS1 - and there are actually alot of minor details that comes with the RS1 that may not be listed as a feature such as the bat-shaped patterns on the seats as well as inside the instrument gauge clusters.

But it's a nice daydream.
Don't tell my 86, though. I've told her we'll be together forever.

Getting a TRD bodykit and exhaust, and spray my car with some high quality (not OEM) paint matched to that yellow is an option, of course.
If we were offered options that Europe/Asia gets then I wouldn't think twice about some limited BS (Ex. 10 Series/Monogram, R.S 1.0)

It saves you the hassle of having (1) to source the parts and (2) to get them painted and installed. It's also bragging rights of having a limited production model.

I understand that much and for the same reasons I considered getting one, but my question was not meant to be without context.

The person I was referring to has the parts available as add-ons from the dealership that make it almost identical to a RS1.0.

Its usually more expensive to buy everything on your own than buying it from the dealer preinstalled.

Bat-Shaped patterns..??

Toyota T-pattern found all over every GT86/FR-S.

That's a little vague, are you referring to me?

Anyway, I don't care much for body kits. Expensive rust traps.
I just like the taxi yellow color of the RS1
