In the future I was checking out other turbo kits from Ptuning, Crawford.... but this SBD kit is much less expensive.
Please I dunno how I feel about putting a mitsu turbo on the subaru. Silly I know, but it's like dropping a roush charger kit on a camaro. |

Well I definitely like the price point. I think the ptuning kit is sorta high. Then there is the whole debate as to the best location for a turbo given the heat issues with the FA20. If you know this person. I would like to ask how they are setup. And if they did some sort of modification for heat soak problems. Like rb6freak has done with his ptuning build.

You get what you pay for. That car put down 233 whp at 10psi on our dyno, 100 whp less than our turbo kit.

Hi Shdobxr! Was that you on Route 28 with me?
I have only had the kit a few days. Yes, you get what you pay for. Although the SPD kit goes to 12psi, I wanted mine capped at 10psi (to be safe) and am running on stock clutch, injectors, etc. I know 233whp sounds low - but honestly, I just love the sound of a turbo and the extra 73whp is a bonus (for me). I can certainly feel the difference. Again, I wasn't looking to get crazy HP out of it, so this is the perfect kit for ME. If YOUR intention is power- I would defintely look into the ptune Kit. As far as heat, I have some heat wrap on the important parts as well as a turbo blanket (but still need to install that). With all that said, I've got less than 2k miles on the kit, so I can't really give a good review yet as far as pros/cons. This is my first (aftermarket) turbo, so I have no way to compare it to other brands or setups (sorry). Not sure if any of this helps - but wanted to add my two cents. :o) |
