I'm not super tech savvy about this car yet, but that is kind of what I thought it might be given that the sound comes directly from under the cover.

What's going on black? Typically emails work best for hardware issues.

Nothing going on yet. Just trying to figure out how to contact the company. I sent in an inquiry through the phantom web page, and pm'd robftss here on the forums like the front page said to do. I am interested but still thinking about this build.

What I would like to know is if there are any albetra shops that would install this for me and roughly what it would cost as well as how well this step works in winter.

You contacted him in the correct location, he just doesnt come of the forums very much.

Rob and I are in Calgary and his shop is here as well. The install is easy enough that anyone can do it(and i mean ANYONE). The system in the winter is a interesting topic. Although you will get less boost(less power in the batteries because they are cold), the boost that you do get is at such a lower temperature it equals more power. This is two fold if you park in a warm garage or really bag on the car to try and get the batteries warm.

Now comes the issue of traction, you are going to have massive problems with traction in the winter with a supercharged FRS or brz. Running studded winter tires last year i could easily break the tires loose in 3rd or 4th gear(on cold pavement)....this makes merging into traffic interesting. On snow or ice, forget about it, you will not be able to use hardly any boost.

Now the second point, is it fun? Hell yes! It was the most fun i have had in any car. You just have to be aware of the power you have and that if you start boosting with traction control off you have to be ready to catch your car should it try and kill you .

I took this video last year before i put it away for winter, as you can see even though there was no snow on the ground the cold pavement was enough that my tires wanted to start letting go in 2nd gear closer to redline.

thanks Fenton. Maybe I will just turn it off in the winter, or put the old straight hose back on for that time of year.

Yep, you could just shut it off and not have to worry about a thing. Or if you want to remove the compressor, it takes me about 30 minutes (or less) to do that and return to the OEM intake tube. Dead simple.

1) I got nothin' on how I got this to happen. Oh well. It hasn't happened since so I must have corrected it, although I'm not a fan of not knowing how I fixed something. I'll be double checking the ESC system

vfrqqq
My ESC spins up without throttle input in the following situation: I cold start my car, but because the E content in my E85 is so high (and I forgot to add a gallon of 93) the engine sputters for a few seconds and dies. The key is still fully ON and two seconds after the engine dies my ESC spins up like a plane taking off. To avoid this, I now always flip the ESC arming switch to OFF until my engine is started properly, and then flip it back ON and allow the ESC to initilize. My ESC doesn't do this if I just turn my key fully ON but don't try to start the engine. Anyone else notice this behavior?

If it sputters it will happen.

Why does this happen? And is this with or without the Procede?

I would like to know why, too, as the procede spun up my ESC when I jumped my car, which was what fried the controller.

Brief update on my ESC status:
  • Got the kit back from Rob
  • Installed it today. The rev.3's 3-pin wiring confused me momentarily, but I figured it out
  • The wire to tap into my procede was.. nowhere long enough to reach my procede. I had to tap in a new wire. Maybe the new procedes have a longer black wire that can reach all the way out into the engine bay (but mine doesn't)
  • Enjoyed boost for 10 minutes, then voltmeter display turned off again
  • Doubled checked connections, don't know what's wrong. Waiting for Rob to get back to me

ESC still not engaging with PROcede controller installed

So my ESC is still not engaging when my PROcede controller is conneceted to the system. I went through and confirmed that I do have continuity on all of my connections on the PROcede wiring harness and tap points. I also confirmed that the PROcede controller has 12VDC on the red wire. After check all that, I also looked at whether the ESC controller is seeing voltage on the one signal wire from the PROcede controller. With the PROcede disconnected from the ESC controller (i.e., the WOT switch was connected up to the ESC controller so that the ESC didn't spool up--see below), I measured the voltage between the signal wire and ground while applying the throttle and with the engine running and observed no discernable change in voltage. So I’m guess that is probably why my ESC isn’t engaging with the PROcede installed; the ESC controller doesn't seem to be seeing any signal from the PROcede. I still haven’t confirmed whether my PROcede controller already has a throttle map loaded, but I’m hoping to solve my problems without having to lug my PC and monitor over to my garage. Beyond this, I’m not sure what I can do to troubleshoot my PROcede controller.

Incidentally, the ESC appears to spin up on its own when the ignition is in the ON mode and when the WOT switch or the PROcede controller is physically disconnected from the ESC controller—perhaps because there is no signal to the ESC controller? I'm not sure whether j_Zer0 and I are seeing the same situation, just different circumstances.
