Edit: And that stuff about 'poetry rhyming', you're a good troll.

Oh, I know he's in it, and in Episode 8. I also think he may be a much different person than the guy we remember.

We can only hope, Hamill is seriously underrated and I really hope he gets a good script to work with.

Luke, as a Jedi, is not quite so goody-two-shoes as he was as a farm boy even in the movies. I rewatched the original movie as a fan edit 'despecialized' last night, it's much funnier, darker, and adult than I ever remembered.

Yeah, I mean he does straight up murder a bunch of Jabba's people. He even force chokes one.

Ok, now I'm legitimately fanboi excited.

Again, I think Hamill has a ton to show us, he's been obscured in voice acting so long most people kind of dismiss him, it will definitely be a shock to the system if he can go all out with good material. I was worried he might become an old Obi-Wan ripoff with a dash of Yoda, but it sounds like that's exactly what JJ doesn't want to do.

Stopped reading on page 2 though becuase they go into startling detail about the plot.

In ANH he totally shuts down Han on the topic of Leia, like not in a playful way, his new best buddy and he's downright mean to him for a chunk of the movie, he was totally capable of being a **** from the first time you saw him. His foster parents get murdered and by the end of the day he decides to ditch the planet with a dude he just met, no oath of vengence, no setting things straight or preserving their memory just let the fuckers smoke lets get out of here.

Can't wait to finish the trilogy this week, from him being a **** to Yoda to installing a false god on a primitive people, Luke's more nuanced than he's given credit for.

Eh, I think I'm over the internet hate machine on all the faults of Star Wars.

"No way a tribe of primitive bears can defeat a trained group of soldiers!"

No way the guy who designed the exhaust vent didn't have a single conversation with the rest of the team that as a military installation a projectile couldn't find it's way through and explode the whoe shebang.

It's a silly movie, a silly movie that I love deeply and has meaning to me, Jar Jar Binks included.

Edit: Besides, Ewoks gave us Warwick Davis, that is not a gift to be wished away.

Jar Jar is the key to all of this. He's a funnier character than we've had before.

No, I get what you're saying. I didn't mean it in that sense. It's just that the story got too cute for me at that point. It's science fiction. Suspension of disbelief is expected.

Ok, I'll go back and try watching ep. I again and really give it a chance. If I can get through it, I'll watch II and III... for the first time.

Don't do it!

I was referencing something George Lucas said during production of Episode I. You're probably better off just watching Mr. Plinkett's reviews of the prequel trilogy.

I think there is some value in understanding Lucas' origin story for Anakin and it adds a bit of depth to the climax of ESB and ROTJ.

3 is watchable imo, on par with some of the other extended universe material, definitely parts that are a bit hard to watch but not unbearable.

Supposedly "The Phantom Edit" is worth a watch, all three prequels stitched together and loaded up to YouTube at about 2 hours long.

And yes to RedLetter Media's Mr. Plinkett reviews of the prequels, hilarious and eye opening as to how much was done poorly on the prequels. Simple things like how shots are framed are just poorly executed and easily changed, flow of the film that can be fixed in editing etc. The story is salvagable is the sad thing, it's like "Almost there buddy, just polish it up, put it to tough criticism before you show the public" and we could have had something good.
