Yup, you would laugh at our spreadsheet for those cars.

The car buying market has completely changed. Profit is very minimal on new cars. Dealership make their money on servicing cars and on pre-owned cars.

Just to clarify, that -800 was one example. I believe our running average is more near -300 for Prius LB.

Were you a recent college graduate? If you were, that enables you to get tier 1 interest rates, despite what ever your score is. If not, then I don't know what your dealership did. They may have used a credit union to get that 0.9%.

8%. Still high but don't really care since I'm planning on paying off the car entirely by next spring to late summer.

After that, start saving for next car or house..

Just a side note, I'd wait until at least 12 months have passed by before paying off the car completely. As long as you haven't had a late payment, that should help build your score.

Already know that :P

It'll be my 1 year anniversary next June. Spent so much time on financial research before buying this car. x.x

Ah, you're one of the well-informed buyers. I like those customers since they're the most realistic.

It's different when it comes to outright buying the car or big down than lets say LEASING, or small down + monthly.

For lease, I know for a fact they cannot go down the number that is advertised. Was one of the reasons why I bought the car, was able to take off 2Kish, so drove away in a brand new 15' for 26K.

59 y.o. And not attending school at the moment. A bit above Scion's target demographic.

Yup, I'm a money whore and being that it was my first car purchase with no credit history, I already knew what to expect.

Sales guy did the best he could with Toyota Financial to get as low numbers as possible. Happy that he went out of his way for me since he knew I really wanted the car.

His words: "I'm not here to rip you off and ask you to take on a loan that you can't pay off, especially at these numbers and at your age. Let's see what I can do."

The dude even hand wrote me a letter saying thank you and call his personal phone if I ever needed anything regarding the car!

The dealerships I talked to in NJ weren't willing to negotiate, most of them considered throwing in some freebies or discounted winter tires or something - but I probably would have had to push them a bit more to get them to fully consent to the things they were "kicking around"...

I honestly don't really care if he pretended or not. Still gave me good service and didn't brush me away when he first saw me.

Just wait till December! Scion was offering 4k off year end models, also managed to get winter tires thrown in for free.
