The Prince engine pulls 200hp and a nice, flat torque curve out of a 1.6 turbo, and damn nice fuel economy numbers to boot. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing one in the FT-86, especially considering its displacement shared with the 4A-GE of old, but only if they can keep the weight down.

A new, turbocharged 1.6L boxer engine from Subaru, co-developed with COSWORTH! Being designed to help Subaru get back into Rally racing.

How would you guys feel if a version of THAT engine wound up in the FT-86?
Prob Subaru will give the current 1.5L engine (iirc it's EL engine) to Cosworth and bore it .1L and do few here and there upgrades and call it good.

FYI, I've sat in this 1.5L Impreza (it was only FF and not AWD)... but it was total gutless car. Yes, it was nice smooth ride, but that's pretty much it.

If they put a 1.6L in there, I'll have to pass. Turbo w/200hp or not.

I highly doubt, they gonna put 1.6L in FT86c. They have already stated that they gonna put 2L Subaru Boxer engine.

I posted a while back about the Nissan Juke's 1.6L. Pretty nice numbers, but I'll take the 2.0L please.

Yeah I'd prefer the 2L as well. Just pointing out possibilities

wut? They just came out with the El15 in 2007. I suppose it is due for a refresh. I can't help but think of the WRC discussion. Wasn't the old limit at 2.5liters hence why Subaru sold 2.5liter versions of their boxer?

Ditto on the FT-86(c?) getting a 2liter, we'll be lucky to get the 2l N/A or Turbo in North America as it is. I would take the 1.6 turbo if it was offered but I'm the crazy one here .

It was 2.0L, but North Americans like low end torque.

Compound turbo setup anyone? Wishful thinking I know. But would be a nice option.

Not likely I'd say, twin turbo ups the costs and a single is simpler and easier.

Okay, so it seems I guessed wrong on the WRC rules. WRC is going 1.6liter, F-1 is going to 1.6liter. I never would have imagined it.

^^^ This is good news for turbo tech trickle-down. In the 80's they were hitting 4 digit power numbers out of 1.5L turbos in F1...
