Carbon creations front lip and possible issues with already flawed design? ?

Just curious if anyone has had any extra issues with their bumper cover and the fitment of it after putting on a heavier carbon fiber one? I'm debating on doing it at home but think that this may require some extra support as to ensure my bumper stays where it's supposed to and have checked around to see who's up to this at their shop and have a place in mind. I don't do well handing over my car and I'll probably have a panic attack after the last place that messed with my car (without even providing the service originally offered ) and this is a big decision. Any thoughts or experience?

I don't know what the lip that your installing looks like but when I put on the STI rexspeed lip, I didn't need to remove the bumper. So no issues with my bumper.

I had a bookshelf in the garage fall on the OEM front bumper cover so I decided to order CC 86-R Style cover and start the after market body conversion I had been wanting to do. Had the new cover drop shipped to the auto body shop. Close to $200 to have that done in addition to the price of the unit.

After it arrived the body shop gave me a call and asked me to come take a look at what was delivered because they felt the amount of work it would take to clean up and fit to the body was not worth the additional expense.

I was shocked when I saw the piece in person. Corners of the intake area were cracked. About an entire gallon of bondo would be required to fill in areas that could not be sanded out because the pot holes from the molding process were just too deep. The mesh screen that was very poorly tacked on had ripples and bends across the entire surface.

I was livid and the body shop was disappointed because they were really looking forward to having pics of this car on their "success wall" with the new lip installed.

Anyway, the body shop was great as they went above and beyond in assisting me with getting that item shipped back to the crooks that sold it in the first place. Never again will I deal with that distributor.

Curse you Greddy for not having your kit in stock, lol...

That sounds awful and sorry about your experience. I see no flaws with my carbon creations and lip and skirts etc, maybe some lazy bum decided to blindly choose which item was shipped out or maybe they had done it before and no returns and complaints. Hey, worked before so let's try and call this acceptable. ...
I do hate when that crap happens though been there before too many times.

Yes. I got the carbon creation st-c lip, skirts and rear canards or whatever they call them. Unfortunately my phone won't allow me to set settings for the max format allowed on forum. Message me if you want me to text or email maybe?

Also, if you aren't taking the bumper off (which you shouldn't need to) it won't sag. The sagging is from clips that wear out from taking the bumper off. The edges get rounded off & aren't sharp enough to hold the bumper tightly like oem. You should be okay.

I will be taking bumper off...to add support rods with the threaded rod etc and I order MOR'S last set up dual button quick release set amd hopefully I snagged them before another person and I won't be stuck waiting for backorder. JRSC install was only time the bumper came off that I KNOW of. One owner before me but car was stock and never messed with. The bumper and lip are both too awkward for me to manage alone. I don't have to wait for my husband to come home and be bored out of his mind holding things up for me while he's dying to get to his comp or xbox lol. Bumper off I think I can work it.

Ok, so I just finished up installing this set up
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=138
My bumper does feel WAY more sturdy and it did help the corner gaps, def not perfect but I'm also going to install quick release button clips when they arrive and that should take care of any gap that could be fixed. I'd post pics but I have to format them down and even my phone won't format them down enough so maybe I'll just upload them and if anyone is interested in seeing exactly what you saw in above link. ..
Now I feel that my bumper is strong enough to install lip on myself. I don't think there should be any extra issues but only time will tell.
