Chrome gas door "cover"
When I bought this car, it came with the chrome gas door, which I really didn't care for. Actually, I thought it was super cheesy. I always meant to come on here and post a trade for a normal gas door. I TRULY believed it was a different gas door. I was getting ready to post it this afternoon, but I went to pump gas. That's when I noticed it was just a really thick sticker installed with a crap load of adhesive.
I grabbed a blow dryer and some goo gone (automotive; though it really doesn't matter). It took a great deal of elbow grease because the goo gone didn't really penetrate the thick ass amount of glue they used. I can't believe such a cheesy sticker is a genuine subaru part. It's 10x more lame because it's just a freakin' sticker! I can't believe I was about to post a trade ![]() Just a tip if you're in the same boat taking the adhesive off. After constantly heating the sticker with a blowdryer/heatgun and peeling, you'll apply the goo gone with one rag. Let it sit for a few minutes and then wipe with a dry rag. The adhesive will start clumping and rolling off. After you've got your surface clean and smooth, just polish it. ![]() ![]() Now It's less racer-boy looking. Nice! I didn't know it was just an overlay either. Glad mine didn't come with one to begin with though!

Subaru dealers know next to nothing about the BRZ, unless they are actually enthusiasts.

I like that you forgot one of the zero's in your username.
Also hilarious post. This made my coffee-deprived morning!

LOL. My GF did the same thing. When she saw them, she said, "Oh, look. Even the door sills are a matching blue!" (I have an Oceanic Blue 2016) I had to tell her that they were only the protective covers. She said to keep them on as long as I can since they were so pretty. I have no reason to remove them and they DO protect the sill protectors so... they are still on the car. |
