Painting the "chrome" fender trim

I'm considering painting the chrome fender trim on my BRZ black chrome. Anyone tried doing it before?

I have all the Duplicolor stuff sitting in my garage. Just waiting for the outside temp to get warmer. If I get it done I'll definitely post it up.

It is just a cover that goes over the body colored strip on the fender vent/garnish. It is held on with automotive VHB tape. I want to keep the chrome and tone down the brightness with a black tint similar to black chrome.

Here is the color I'm going for.

That is exactly what I want to do with mine as well. I'm planning to get my headlights black chromed out as well.

Seems like it would be easy to do once you get the piece off. Maybe just use paint or vinyl to smoke it a little.

Maybe just sell it and make some money back if you don't like it? I'm sure someone would trade you + cash for it.

i'm assuming you mean some kind of tint film, as vinyl would do away with the effects he is looking for.

Thats actually a nifty idea that I think might look pretty good. I know a lot of people don't like the fender chrome but I actually don't mind it.

That could work.

Im just going to spray it with the kit from duplicolor. Much easier for me.

I also thought about plastidip just to experiment.

I'm gonna try the duplicolor also. If I screw up, I can always buy the vinyl to cover it up haha.
