The pattern in all similar threads around here seems to be the same....once mods are seen, the dealer will deny warrantee service no matter what. Also seems to go for doing your own maintenance...unless you go to the dealer for routine service, good luck having a repair covered.

Things that are not expected or normal, immediately he says, well it was in an accident in august so who knows what happened. I said I do, i got tapped at a traffic light and a cop happened to be there in the next lane and the dent popped out on its own. He just said I will call you tomorrow but I dont think they will cover it.

I wouldn't get too upset yet. Just bc some know-nothing service rep guy says what he says doesn't mean there aren't intelligent men who will examine the rack and determine what failed.

I don't know how an owner could destroy his steering rack even if he TRIED. Maybe park right against the curb and turn the wheel into it full lock?

Hey everyone, I need your help. I'm now being told it's not my steering gear causing the problem it's the fact that I have aftermarket HID lighta that caused the BCM to short out. Has anyone ever heard of this? They want to charge me 240$ for diagnosis

Yes. Shorting out the BCM is a thing that happens.

No, I have no idea if the steering wheel lock would be affected by the BCM.

your car is a BRZ, so it is equipped with HID's. what do you mean aftermarket HID? did you actually buy a whole HID system even though your car came with HID's, or did you just replace the bulbs? if you just replaced the bulbs, I call bullshit on the dealer. they're just trying to find a reason to deny your warranty. however, if you did do an LED interior conversion, that might be a possible reason for your BCM to short circuit. but them giving you that HID reason sounds suspicious to me.

Ok i called them out on it, I have Valenti tails he is saying any LED bulb put in the car can cause the BCM to short. But again the tail lights are working, there were led underglow lights in the car that don't work and haven't worked since I had it, can that cause this?

Depends on where it's drawing power from. If the underglow piggybacks off an existing circuit, it's possible and it would explain why they don't work.

Are your courtesy lights in the doors still functioning?
