TRD Accessories - Power Increase?
Hey guys,
Does anyone have Hard-Numbers on the increase in Horsepower, and more importantly Torque from each one of the dealer-installed TRD accessories of - the cat-back exhaust, the cold-air intake and the performance air-filter? Or is the increase too negligible/variable to state. I'm not a gear-head, but I know I want more torque than a tC. Thanks very much, Old North |

More torque than a tc is not really possible. 2.4/2.5 motors vs a 2.0. Simple math says it is not possible. But our cars are lighter and have better gearing which makes them feel like they have more torque.
Look up phantom electric supercharger for the most torque for the least amount of money. It's around 2k and a long waiting list. |

For this platform both catbacks (mostly for sound) and intakes (stock is also CAI, also rather efficient and 75% of intake gains can be had by drop in air-filter) don't bring much. You are best off upgrading header + tune.

It's basically within the margin of error for most dynos.
Here's the thread on drop-in air filters: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13245 The condensed version is that all of the drop-in air filters show some gain, but it's pretty marginal. Same could be said for catbacks and intakes. Also worth noting - mods don't add power linearly. It's easy to get into that ricer math mindset of thinking that all of these +2-or-3 HP mods will add up to something substantive, but it rarely works that way. A new header and a tune are the way to go for a substantive power bump. Running E85 with an E85 tune is another option. After that, you're basically looking at forced induction options. |

All drop-in filters show pretty marginal gain .. but they also cost just $40. Costs/gains wise one of best upgrade.

TRD Strut Bar TRD Door Stabilizators - good only for silent door click TRD Fuel Cap Cover TRD Oil Filter Cap TRD Sport Oil Filter TRD Aero Cover - good only for leafs But you might try this one: TRD Lightweight Flywheel (40% lighter) I didnt bought clutch disc and cover and it resonates sometimes when full throttle. Also idle below 800rpm is unusable. I have other mods (like Perrin engine mounts) so it may not be directly caused by this. |
