My modifications are minimal (Ace type "a" headers and TRD intake on an otherwise stock BRZ, including OEM catted front pipe and exhaust). Before the tune, I was using the 91 octane OpenFlash EL tune (I only fill with 93 octane, but try to run a bit conservative). Shiv's tune was a significant, noticeable improvement. Increase in both HP and torque over the "out of the box" EL tune, eliminated a bit of knocking on the high end (7000+ rpm), and provided a much nicer (sorry, intangible / difficult to describe) driving experience. I'm sure most of that is probably the improvement in torque, but the car just drives smoother and more pleasant now. After I find the time for a few more mods (at the very least, the Q300 catback), I'll definitely be interested in another session. Thanks for arranging the event, and thanks to Shiv for taking the effort to travel out for it. |

My tune runs great. Car makes boost quick and all readings have been consistent. I'm even getting better fuel economy while in vacuum. Once he adjusts my timing a little bit after I send him some data logs, I should be making even more power!
S2000s and Zs no longer mess with me. Should they choose to I can easily change their mind now.

How serious are we talking about - 5+ whp? I've already removed the cat in the header, but kept the FP one because they do emissions testing in more densely populated regions in Texas.

I wanted to keep at least one cat, but even more improvement is sorely tempting.
I'm happy at the moment with just the bump where there was the dip. The car is even more of a joy to drive now. I will replace the front pipe at some point, just not sure with what yet (although the temptation to keep a cat & resonator for both sound quality and air quality will likely outweigh the power boost. If I really want more power, I'll probably go for the Edelbrock and maybe an engine rebuild to accompany it. But that'll take time since I have other mods I need to find the time for first). I know I'm not getting optimal performance out of the Ace headers (yet), but I'm still delighted with the results, especially after Shiv's tune. |
