That "awful bumper sticker" is a necessary evil in Hawaii. It's a Safety Check sticker, and it's LAW to have one here. Every car need to pass a bullshit safety inspection to be legal to drive here in Hawaii and if you don't have the sticker, the police here can and will pull you over.

Trust me, I don't want it, but MORE SO I don't need an excuse for police to pull me over...

same.

I'll probably be de-badging mine after a full month of ownership.

Gosh, I guess that's like next week. :P

And they force you to put it on the body? What if the back was all painted? We have inspection safety stickers too but at least they are put on the inside of the glass.

Thanks, I've been tempted to do this. I think this pushes me over the edge.

Now when people pester me about the car in a parking lot and I don't want to deal with it, it'll be one step closer to believable when I say "oh, no, it's just a Genesis Coupe."

Law states it has to be on the rear bumper. People put them on specially made plates, but apparently those are illegal and police ticket those too. It defiantly can't be on the window. Like I said, the police here a looking for reasons to pull cars like ours over, and will tag you for anything they can.

Honestly, it's just a small sticker, it never really bothered me at all. I really don't see why people make such a huge issue out of it. If I have to have it, I'll just shut up and get it over with. At least my dealer didn't put it on the paint.

I would get a personalized license plate with like 3 letters and a space on the right or left and put the sticker there. Ultimately, screw it. Looks better than apple stickers, or stick family stickers, or political stickers, or any of the other SHIZZ Americans festoon on their rides. I like your car. Very nice.

It defiantly can't be ON the plate. The law states that it must be below and to the right of the plate. You can drill a plate for it on the lower part of the bumper to the right, but 1) that doesn't really work with the BRZs rear bumper design and 2) I don't want to drill.

Thanks for the pics guys! I'll definitely be de-badging now. I might order a pair of emblems to replace them if I ever sell the car.

I debadge today, just had to remove the letters and wipe with quick detailer. No residue left behind.

1. Heat the letters for about 30 seconds with a blow dryer on high

2. pry the edge with a credit card enough to get your finger under it. Hook the edge and pull up, do not press against the trunk as leverage because you may scratch the paint.

3. peel away

here is a picture showing that all the adhesive came directly off with the letter, just give a quick wipe with detailer and it will look factory fresh.

WARNING: Do not heat letters too long, and test touch them before handling because you can burn yourself.

Debadged mine yesterday, heated up and used floss but every last bit stuck to the car instead of the letters.

Kinda funny, because right after I removed the badge and cleaned the glue I went to the store to get detailer and someone says "oh s#!t its a BRZ!"

Is it possible to heat the gunk off of the emblems too?
