Whoa, those are some meaty ass tires! Not hating but rather curious as to why did you go with 215/50's?

I thought the stretch was going to eat more of the height than it did, to be honest. I'll be burning through these tires quick enough and I'll probably go with a 215/45-17 and see how it looks.

I really like the fitment in the rear.. I think that's a great width and offset. Still not happy with with the front poke though.. just my opinion.

I think a 45 will be a lot better.

Ignoring fitment, weight and balance considerations, I simply don't see why a car with such power to weight ratio would ever need 9" wheels.

Also, not sure why thinking this setup is far from optimal is declared hating. The op likes it - cool. This however is an internet forum so all kinds of opinions will come inevitably. We all enjoy the same car after all

I think the wheels look great.. although I would have maintained the stock size tire/wheel config. Only because this car being so light, the set up is just that good suspension wise.. that you really don't need to fit larger wheels/tires.. Its just such a well balanced car.. But thats what "personalization" is all about.. Enjoy!!

Dude, if it works for you, cool. Don't worry about others opinions. Definately an aggressive look. I believe the car will take 9" wheels, larger in the rear, but the + 30 offset may have some rubbing issues, especially when lowered. You are changing your suspension geometry significantly. Thanks for posting the pics. The views from the front & rear are the most helpful. Worst case is you sell them if you decide to try something else-no biggy. I've already bought tires & wheels, and I don't even have my 86 yet.

Oh ok. I thought you were planning to take your FR-S off-roading with those all terrain tires! j/k bro!

It's a live and you learn process and 17x9 in the front is too "ahi poke" for me! Though they are knock offs, I've got to admit, the wheels look good!

Putting a stretch tire on this car is such a shame.

I love the fact that people are now at least experimenting with different wheel/tire size combos on this car. Its a new platform so its not easy to get right off the bat. Lowered I think the car will look great with the 45's. I come from vw/audi scene so seeing stretched tires is the norm, hes not even that stretched too! I have everything come in my shop from race cars to bagged show cars and its just different strokes for different folks. I'm excited to see the modified scene for this car develops stance guys and speed guys alike.

I really wanted to be able to enjoy driving the car, and having lips that hang WAY out over the tire just begs for a pothole to munch it. Having the extra height on the tire wall helps, too. I wasn't exactly going for the 4WD look, but I'll just deal with it until I replace the tires -- which will be pretty quickly once I get through the break-in process.

Hopefully lowering the car tomorrow, so I will update this topic with new pics.

I'm not hating. My car looks exactly the same, because I bought cheap XXR's that only came in one offset. The fronts poke out too much, even after I lowered the car and added a few degrees of negative camber. You either gotta pull your fenders or get lower offset/skinnier wheels.

See? Flush rear, Mexiflush front (and no, I can't get rid of that front fender gap until I cut my strut tubes shorter - Ground Control coilovers only offer so much height adjustment)
