The fire was maintained by a semi truck driver on the OTHER side of the highway pulled over and ran across traffic with a small fire extinguisher, where he maintained the fire until the Fire Department came.

Shut down traffic for 3 hours on a Tuesday morning commute on a large highway in PA.

No major injuries. / RIP First Car. '94 Camaro.

Immediately after this, I bought an '02 Firebird, same style body. Then I traded that in and bought an 86!

I personally believe: This is not the proper place for an advertisement in this forum !

Maybe this person is a 'community sponsor', the rules then allowing it.

This thread/post should be removed in my opinion. I don't like being deceived.

Update after studying that video: I don't see any car made by Fuji Heavy Industries in that video.

That's the crazy part ... apparently not!

I was absolutely sure that the occupants had to have been either killed on impact or incinerated ... then last night I googled and found this:

So hard to believe

I've seen a lot of aftermath of car fires, but only have seen one personally when the headlight harness on my E36 went up in flames. I figure it was smoldering 5 minutes prior to full on flames, I thought it was the car in front of me until oncoming traffic in front of me gave me strange looks without actually being helpful and saying "Your headlight looks like satans butthole after chipotle night". Pulled off the road, popped the hood and extinguished the fire with my trusty waterbottle. Still much smoldering and sparking, disconnected the battery in the trunk.

Cut all the wires, tied up the important ones like ECT/AC pressure switch/etc. and drove home.

Previous owner put in larger fuses to feed his crappy knockoff of chinese knockoff HID ballasts, one of them drew more current than Claus at the factory spec'd the wire for, and it started getting hotter and hotter at one of the wire taps which set the wire loom and insulation on fire.

If it was any worse, I would have liked to have a fire extinguisher

I grew up on a major highway in country Australia ... there were many accidents along this 5 mile long straight stretch of road past my parents house ... and for some reason they always used to break down out the front. (Probably because it was the only house for miles and they limped the car there ... well before the days of cell phones.)

The worst happened when I was about 15 ... I was inside and I heard screaming ... looked out to see smoke billowing out from an old Ford ... I grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran out there ... then I heard a kid screaming ... the parents, both in their 20's were obviously in shock and jumped out and left their kid strapped in the child seat. I rescued the kid, then put out the fire ... Then walked away in disgust.

I also grew up around highly modified cars ... my brothers show ute (El Camino) was destroyed by fire.

Yeah I thought afterwards, it was lucky I didn't rush over there, there were live wires strewn everywhere from the traffic light and the control boxes.

Fired 5 LAWs into a truck once (on a range) and couldn't get that sonofabitch to burn. The movies lied to me.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Yes I have my logo and website on the video (because my son wanted to show me how clever he was with adobe premiere before he loaded ... yep ... true story!)

But I'm sharing an actual incident that happened to me yesterday because I thought others may be interested and because I am committed to getting all drivers to carry an extinguisher ... whether it be my bracket or someone else's I don't care ... just do it.

I have made no reference to my website or even my product in the sponsors section.

I agree ... this is the ultimate. Only problem is the price is prohibitive.

I also me a driver who races a Z06 professionally recently and they said that sometimes you have "small fires" in a track car and don't want the mess or expense of setting off the full system. I laughed "small fires"????? This was a girl by the way ... better driver than me, bigger balls than me!

You missed the Myth Busters show on that very topic?

I managed a band back in the 90's ... I thought a cool photo would be the guys standing in front of a burning car. Soooooo ... we dragged a wreck to an old quarry .... filled it full of firewood (below the window line) Added some fire starter ... threw in a match ... wooooosh. So there we are taking all the photos ... the band about 10 feet in front of the flaming car ... and we hear this "whooooooooosh" sound (Just like in backdraft) I shout "RUN!" ... they did ... just before the fuel tank went ka-boooom! Obviously the fuel filler hose burnt through, and the sound was air rushing into the tank ... along with flame. Ahhhhh crazy kids!

Get there and he points at this huge pile (there were 100s of them)of M72 rocket launchers that were Vietnam surplus and says "Take these out to the tank range and dispose of them". That was the total of his instructions! He sent three 18 year olds out to a range with a truck load of rocket launchers and no supervision of any kind.
We blew up the truck that was there (got in trouble for that one since it had been had been all set up with remote control and just put there for the tanks to take out later that day)
Fired a bunch into the old tank hulks scattered around.
Put a bunch in a pile and fired into them.
Put about 10 inside a tank turret laying on the ground and fired into that.
Fired some straight into the air with just enough angle to send them down range.
Blew up some trees on the edge of the range.
Probably a bunch of stuff that I don't remember.
