I was very partial to my 66 coupe. Could daily drive it without much worry about value, could modify to hearts content, and insurance was CHEAP.

But who am I kidding, I would have much rather had a 66 GT350. I have a fondness for the "K" code 289 engine.

No it did not. In fact people screamed their heads off about it. It looked and drove like pretty much every other luxury two door of the period. You could line it up with a Dart, Malibu, oh shit just about anything of the same size and trim level and hardly tell the difference.

Not to mention that the interior and vinyl tops on those things looked like they were 10 years old after about a month (much like the Ks).

I don't even know what the material they did the seats in back then was called but I am pretty sure it was developed by NASA for the express purpose of drawing dirt and stains out of thin air.

Fun fact:
The Ford Probe was actually supposed to be the late 80s next gen of the Mustang. When the public found out there were going to drop the RWD platform people lost their shit.
Not very often can public opinion change the big manufacturer's plans but that onetime it sure as hell did.
