That delay is normal in auto's since all new cars have the Drive-by-wire technology.

If I'm correct the way it works is:

->>You step on the accelerator
----->>Accelerator signals are sent to computer
-------->>computer regulates gas going into engine
------------>> car moves.

It's safer and more efficient than the old quick direct metal line throttle response from accelerator.

A/T FRS ... Does Your Hesitate ?! Granny Tranny

Old style cable response is immediate since the link between accelerator & throttle body is a cable. New style drive by wire has a delay due to cpu processing & translating the TPS and commanding the throttle body opening. Nowadays the delay is shorter due to faster cpu but delay still exist.
