So finaly get 3000K 92CRI leds for instrument cluster.

As it turns out, i need 5500k and blank led's, because they are so bright. I will glue small peace of paper on each led to get intensity down.

Update

Finlay get steering wheel airbag, so all SRS system is in order, but did not try to reconnect and test it. Total cost was ~50EUR for seat belts, 120EUR for driver airbag, and 60EUR for airbag control unit reprogramming. So total cost around 230EUR.

Also swapped again dial leds for white ones, and also glued small paper so it will not be horribly bright. At the end, it looks very good, and i am happy about it.

So not many jobs left to do by myself right now, only my own GPS/GSM alarm system development, head unit replace with some high end tablet, and retrimming sun visors with alcantara type material, since i would like to have clean look.

Also, all underside is painted with plasti-dip type material, for extra rust protection. I will do that over entire frame when all jobs will be finished. Right now only front is not covered.

Update 2

Since i should get part's soon, i am preparing car for leaving garage. Reinstalled painted exhaust system, and put other parts inside the car. Run the engine first time for around 1 month of sitting, with airbag system reinstalled. Only warning light now is ABS, even if sensor is attached correctly, so i don't know whats wrong here. I will go and test voltages inside connectors, because maybe i have problem deeper in harness, i don't know. ( will also try to check fuses or any electrical parts)

Also, i am getting strange waring, regarding traction control. Maybe it's because car is in the air ? ( even in neutral, i get small amount of wheel turning, that is a bit odd, but is extremely weak)

After one forum member ( guess who ) lent me with cable and tech-stream software, reseting ABS fault codes did the trick, and after multiple power ups/power downs no error is showing off, this is very good Also, tested other systems for errors, none to be found . And ordered this cable from ebay for 20$. It will help me in future, as well as provide can protocol sniffing tool, for interacting with doors, lokcs, lights, and other electronics via CAN interface from my GPS/GSM alarm !

Since i don't exactly have what to do, i decided to re trim sun visors, well, because they are so horrible, and sticker sucks too.

First thing is to get spray able contact glue for soft fabrics, threads, and alcantara ( in this case, it is not real alcantara, but it was best i could get in Lithuania)

1) Remove sun visors from car, and disassemble it. First, disconnect wires from light-bulb, then remove hinge, this is easy part




2) Cut fabric, so you can wrap around plastic parts, with 5cm to spare.

3) Fold it so with sowing machine you could make stitches along line. Go up until it starts to tun again, after that part, you will fold material inside.






4) Spray contact glue to mirror holder, since you will need to glue fabric, don't worry, mirror itself will shale it a lot, just get as close as possible



5) After that, cut fabric in places, where is plastics clips, since you want best compression of plastic parts possible



6) Expand plastic part by punting something inside and spray inside material with contact glue, try not to spay it in good side. I did it first time, with no glue on other side, so it is easy to do.


7) start to fold material inside, and it will stic, don't woryy, we will use stiching to compress is, just do best job you can. Each conner material must get few cuts, so you can fold it. As you can see, it is very easy to do.




8) After that, insert metal spring, and close it. Force material with plastic knife or something like this inside sun visor, Insert semi-flexible tuning, so you can pull light wires, it was tricky, but take me 2min to complete job. I used bike hydraulic line for this. After that, tape wires with electrical tape, but you must place connectors with offset, so you get lowest profile possible. After just pull it. Did it in first run !





9) take needle, and black thread, and stitch it together. I will not look perfect, but it must be done. It will compress plastic parts, and pull fabric very tight. And way, you will not see this part, but it still looks good




And Voilà ! one good looking sun visor for 5$

Finished second one in around one hour. This one was glued inside locking pins with super glue, so no stitching was needed, also, it was for passenger side, so in it will not be used as frequent as driver side. Inside car, it is very hard to tell different shades of black, only flash make it different !

Small hack:
Since i get Toyota GT86 instrument cluster, i tried it on my car. I did worked, but for some reason check engine light is on, and i don't know why ( immobilizer problem ? )

Since i know a bit about microcontrollers, with a help from STM32F429 i read code from GT86 cluster, and copied to BRZ cluster, and volia, i get C instead of F, km/h instead of miles, same for AC controls, all are in SI units Happy days

So if some one want to hack instrument cluster, so it will work with SI units, i think i can help

For people who want to replace instrument cluster, and also keep original odometer, you can resolder EEPROM, or you can reprogram one. Here is how:
First, read original EEPROM with reader or microcontroller. it is simple S93C66 SO8 EEPROM
As example, i get

FF80 is clearly some header, so just ignore that. But it is a good start to see, if you read eeprom correctly.

is my odometer data, FF FF DC EF. In order to get meaningful for human answer, invert each hexadecimal digit.
0 -> F |8 -> 7 |
1 -> E |9 -> 6 |
2 -> D |A -> 5 |
3 -> C |B -> 4 |
4 -> B |C -> 3 |
5 -> A |D -> 2 |
6 -> 9 |E -> 1 |
7 -> 8 |F -> 0 |
so in my case, inverted data is:

FF FF DC EF -> 00 00 2310 . So it is 2310 miles. Problem is, my odometer is 2318 miles, so last number i have no idea how to change. But that ok .

Toyota GT86 also use same codding:

FF FF CC 6F -> 00 00 3390 while original value was 3394, so again, last number is not correct, so i don't know how to make it work.

So replacing this duplicated numbers will set odometer to correct values.

Just in case some smart people will read this thread, i attach my BRZ eeprom values, maybe you can figure it out. Also, it does change all values to mil/h and F, MPG, while GT86 eeprom will enable km/h, C, L/100

Good news every body

I figure-out how to make any instrument cluster or ac into F <> C or km/h <>mil/h

Basically, made adapter, so i can switch eeprom in few seconds, and narrow it down to few numbers, now i can make AC run on F or C, same for instrument cluster, can have miles or kilometers , and also checked, and i was able to change odometer, only last (km) number is not effected. (it must be something to do with accumulation of original mileage in meters, so if you switch your car down, and remove battery, it will not lose that 100m or so, well, i will try to test each number for this, i already have suspect for this last number, hope it works )

So if some one wants USDM type instrument cluster, with C in AC controls, i can do it

Same other way, km/h instrument cluster and F in AC controls

Since my original head unit is for USA only and it's not android anyway, i just get Nvidia Shield tablet, and will make head unit for this one If some one want to buy my own original head unit from, just write PM

Have some good news after alot of work

Fully reinstated rear fog light with EU style switching handle, so i can enable front fog laps, and toggle rear fog lamps, also lamp on dashboard will light up accordingly. Made simple circuit that was suggested by Petras, and it worked great. Also with 3D printer made simple box for easy fitting under steering wheel.

And oh yes, my car today was transported to place, that will cure all BRZ problems, frame and paint, and very close to them are two firms, who will check give MOT,and register my car for street use

Things are getting good fast. One weak into the job, and major framework is already completed, only geometry correction, and painting left !
