That is my only experience with getting a window replaced. I will never use them again.
Use safelite for our business vehicles and always professional and do great work.

KB Auto Glass. Had them do my windshield earlier this year, top notch job and OEM-quality glass (which is super important - your glass helps support your roof if you flip your car, cheap glass = yer a pancake, Harry). I have been using them for a decade, back when they were a tiny mom and pop place with a couple vans.

If you do Safelite, you need to specifically request OEM quality glass. Then make sure the glass they bring out is OEM (have heard "oh sorry, we got that mixed up" stories before). Then you need to watch the tech because they're a mixed bag - some of them are awesome, some of them are awful, and all of them are under pressure to cost-reduce the hell out of a windshield replacement.

Maybe it was just the specific guy I got. Was enough to make me have a poor impression of them.

I don't like them either but I don't have a like so I can't help. Last company did alright but one time isn't really enough to recommend

I completely understand but definitely ask for oem glass because otherwise you get the cheap crap. It's expensive though

I've used Ever Ready Glass for previous vehicles and Penske Auto Glass for my FR-S...great results with both. Penske understands that there's a seal that needs to be special ordered for the FR-S, and they offer the original-ish version with the black behind the rearview mirror, or a version with a blue band of tint at the top. Mine is being replaced this afternoon, in fact, by Penske.

As for windshields I could care less if it's OEM or not. I'm on my 3rd windshield. I average 1 windshield a year. That's why I don't care if OEM or not.

Thanks for all the feedback on windshields! Looks like either KB or Penske will be the one.

I'm currently a sales manager @ a auto glass shop. Lots of auto glass companies here in the state, a little over 1200 registered company's in just the phx area. Not to put others to shame, but safelite is literally our number 1 competitor.

As far as OEM vs Non OEM... people who make OEM also produce the OEE and charge 3x as much for the toyota/subaru stamps.

if you need windshields just pm me, i check the forums every couple of days. lifetime warranty and free chip repairs in the maricopa county area. We can usually service next day

Thanks @Boblhead
I'm less concerned with the stamps as I am with the structural quality of the piece. I track the car and know it's a semi-structural component. I had a chip in the windscreen on my last outing I was able to see it turn into a two foot long crack as I was taking corners. I didn't take my last session because of it.
