It also means his setup is probably is illegal in most states. Not "technically" illegal, but impossible to actually drive on the streets because it attracts the attention of everyone in 5 square miles.

It doesn't matter how "nice" or "great" the car sounds if you literally can't take it anywhere.

And yes, you did take the entire thread off topic. But that is kind of what we do here. It is part of the enjoyment of talking about the 86 platform.

I am sure there are actually people using UEL headers in carb states and getting away with it because they don't set off every car alarm on the street when they rev the engine.
i have a jdl el with cat, front pipe with cat, type 60s (s for street!) and i thought this was modest on paper, however it is loud as balls. i use the silencer for normal driving but take it out when at the track. track staff hasn't said anything about it here, but it is still one of the loudest cars on a track day usually. question is, is it bad if i have to leave the silencer in? does it create some kind of potentially damaging restriction?

I guess "top mounted" is not quite the way to describe it. I was talking bout JR NA oil cooler, which mounts on a solid bracket.
It will clear with minor modification. I'm pending confirmation that it will fit with zero modification.

Guys, the smaller sized supercharger pulleys range from $30-$40 on most sites online. I saw some listings on Amazon for $31.01 each.

I've heard great things about the TVS blower's thermal efficiency. It'll be interested to see if it can hang through summer track days. Most aftermarket FI systems can't.

good thing you had the photo in your link. I tried to get a photo of it this morning and didn't get any good pictures unless I physically removed the bumper which I did not feel like doing.

so basically flip the mounting bracket around so that it is facing forward of the crash beam instead of behind it and it should fit? wouldn't the front plastic grille of the bumper get in the way?

wonder if anybody with the jr oil cooler has ever mounted it this way already?

I'll be making a new mounting bracket to locate the oil cooler directly under the crash beam.

So like a full exhaust and custom tune (non carb) non built engine on 91 octane what would be rough estimate of hp and tq?

I guess 305 to 315 crank hp with the best header.

Judging by the location of the lines, it may have to be a "drop" 2x90 degree bracket similar to mishimoto's. Post up pics of your design if you get a chance

Yes, definitely needs to be dropped to make room for the lines. There's plenty of room downwards to do so.

Well, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. If you're pushing 500hp on a stock motor, it's gonna be a ticking time bomb, whether you're supercharged or turbo charged.

At the power level the kit comes at from Edelbrock, they are confident enough to warranty your ENTIRE drivetrain for 3 years/36k miles.
