Did you even bother reading the previously quoted posts?

Even though it's totally irrelevant to the original question... The long tube EL is considered illegal as well.

Yes, I read the entire thread. You missed my point. I don't mean "considered illegal," I meant that Anthony was pulled over for noise violations in Mississippi. They don't have laws for that down there. That is how loud his car is. That means that his setup is probably illegal on every single racetrack in the USA, since they all have noise restrictions now. It also means his setup is probably is illegal in most states. Not "technically" illegal, but impossible to actually drive on the streets because it attracts the attention of everyone in 5 square miles.

It doesn't matter how "nice" or "great" the car sounds if you literally can't take it anywhere.

And yes, you did take the entire thread off topic. But that is kind of what we do here. It is part of the enjoyment of talking about the 86 platform.

I am sure there are actually people using UEL headers in carb states and getting away with it because they don't set off every car alarm on the street when they rev the engine.

His car has no muffler or cats.
The UEL doesn't make a difference. It's going to be loud as shit regardless because he is straight piped, not because he has an UEL header.

Have you ever set foot on a racetrack before?

A general noise complaint is indeed different from a specific "car too loud" violation.

I didn't want to pollute the owner's thread with these questions. But just for informational purposes, does CSG have pricing on the available pulley upgrades?

And hypothetically speaking, how would a motor be built/set up to maximize the smallest available pulley? e.g. valves, pistons, those sort of items, not bolt ons, like Flex Fuel, full exhaust, etc. Any differently than a turbo built block?

I have no idea what the pulleys cost, but I would expect them to be fairly inexpensive.

*Just* the smallest available pulley? You'd be able to get away with just rods, I'd think. You'd be going from ~60% of the SC's capacity to ~80%. You'd need to get a larger crank pulley to get more out of the SC, and the overhead is there. Now how the accessories will handle that... well it's similar to revving the engine higher.

Maximizing? Well, rods, bearings, pistons, head work, valves, seats, guides, retainers, valve springs, etc. etc. etc. I could come up with a ridiculous 80k engine that would "maximize" if we want to go way off the deep end of diminishing returns.

Mostly curious on how it mounts to see if certain top mounted oil coolers would work.

The heat exchanger sits right in front of the radiator. So if you want mount it in front of the crash beam, that should work like mishimoto's. The perrin looks like it sits right under the beam based on the pics I see online.

Any particular reason you want a top mounted oil cooler? is one location better than the other? (learning here)

Which oil cooler are you referring to?

Good to know. I'm a little more comfortable with an oil cooler rigidly mounted on/below the crash beam vs the plastic under tray like the perrin. I can picture a scenario where hitting something and ripping off your undertray can make for a very bad day.

I guess "top mounted" is not quite the way to describe it. I was talking bout JR NA oil cooler, which mounts on a solid bracket.
