Performance: Brake pads/fluid, Added Camber in the front.
Seriously, those two are more important than any other modification available for the car.
Looks/cred: a bigass wing?

Great mods;

K&N drop in filter
(do not get a cold air intake, they are mostly for looks and a drop in filter will get the job done for roughly a fifth of the price.)

OFT
(open flash tablet) check in the classifieds here, people are switching from OFT's to ECUTECK all the time because they are going forced induction.

Lowering springs (TRD/Eibach) and camber plates
(if you dont want to spend the money on coilovers)

A MUST: Stickier tires with some lightweight rims.
unless you want the stock tires and loose traction basically anywhere you go.

most of your power gains will be from a header, drop in, and a tune. Search this forum for different combinations and approxamate whp gains.

I know alot of people like MTEC springs for better shifting feel, you can also pair with a good quality short throw shifter. (I prefer to stay away from COBB. Hated it in my WRX, switched it out for a Kartboy. Idk what's good for the fr-s's yet due to the fact i haven't tried any yet. Just search the forum for this topic.)

After all of this is done, and you have 5k to spend, Jackson Racing Supercharger for extra power. Or e86 depending on how available it is for you.

The best advise is to search.

Don't forget a Rocket Bunny kit, bags, and overpriced wheels for street cred.

Anything you want, sir. Seriously, cosmetic or performance, it doesn't matter.

@soulreapersteve
Thanks man. I got my BRZ from Seattle and shipped to me up north. Just put 1K on it today. So i had to splurge (lol $50) on some new mods for the car.

Mods are meant to put a personal spin on your car. What is the point of modding if you just buy what other people tell you?

You've only had the car for a month. Why dont you drive it and find out what you would like to improve/change for yourself?

@funwheeldrive - i agree to personalize your car to make them reflect each drivers/owners personality, but in some cases others want to rely on the products that other have tested and experienced when adding anything new to their cars.
I like to be original in my setup (Although I am aiming to make it an STi clone) but i enjoy using parts that others have shown on their mods list as they appear to be trusted and reviewed.

FWIW - Spend your first $1k on yourself and a good High Performance Track School.

You'll never get to see why the FRS/BRZ/GT86 made such headlines in the automotive world until you get some track time with a qualified instructor sitting next to you turn by turn. You'll learn how to strategically take a turn, use throttle to *steer* the car, even when to use the brake or downshift.

Hooked on Driving, SCCA, NASA, BMW CCA HPDE are a few that come to mind.
Plan on around $500-$750 on the high end for close to 100-200 miles of track driving.

TRUST ME - the skills you learn in one session will carry over to every car you ever will own going forward.
The WORST thing for any guy to do is buy a sports car he doesn't know how to drive.

I'm not questioning your skills as a driver, but if the last training you had in driving was driver's ed in high school, well...

I don't think California does the sniffer test anymore for model year 2000 and on. They plug into the obd2 port and do a visual.

I wouldn't know. My mustang was a 99 lol. . . So technically, i would be ok if they overlooked the headers then.
