How far/long did you drive? I once drove 30 miles across two days in my Honda before the TPMS light came on. It takes it longer to notice that the sensors are gone then it does to detect a low pressure signal.

On a second thought- - I might be reading the manual wrong. So, just in case, I'll describe how much I drove. First - some random back roads for maybe 20 minutes (the light was coming on in my previous Subaru after this kind of driving). Then, when the light didn't come, I drove about 10 miles on the HWY, turned around and another 10 miles and then drove some more to a store.

I might like it if the car would acutaly share with me the tire pressure and temperature data rather then just the idiot light most cars display. Good find! |

Same message is on page 310 of the Scion manual.
On my 08 Tundra, the TPMS light would come on as soon as I started the truck after removing them, so your drive seems promising. After reading this, I definitely will not be putting the sensors in my new wheels & tires when my other two wheels get here Monday and see what happens.

Cool I need to toss the car up on stands and go visit the dealer to confirm unless someone else does first

Sadly, I was wrong. The light came on after ~30 miles of non-stop highway driving. VSC off engages like before, however.

Dang! I was really hoping you were right. How obnoxious is it? Does it just flash for a bit and then stay on solid like most cars? My CR-Z acted like the world was about to end because it couldn't read the sensors.

Flashes for 1 minute, then stays solid. It's off to the side, on the analog speedo, and I barely notice it. In my Legacy the light, when on solid, was annoying me. Here it doesn't.
