I can sell you mine! Cheap! Requires some welding though, filter and traction fluid

BTW: got news from a fellow from Novosibirsk who installed V1 SC before all of us here in Russia and it failed first too - early this year. He has finally opened the failed unit and the picture was apparently identical to the other two units which failed later including mine: thread on the "cover" is gone. But in his case it went further - the body of the unit was cracked and the fluid went out. Waiting for his pictures - will post here once he sends them to me. This design seems to be totally corrupted.

If the replacement blower which I will hopefully get in Sept fails too - I'll be really angry

UPD: Here are the pics.

Thanks man! very very tempting ha ha... This is absolutely ridiculous and pathetic the company doesn't stand behind their product. Clearly this is a manufacturing problem, not user error.

HKS V2 + Stroker 2.1 + HKS V-cams + Injectors of course no restrictor, no cats ... and tune done in Japan.

400 nm , 295 ft/lb of torque at 6300rpm thats plenty to scare some "beetles" from Germany.

And it is a very reliable setup, the number of deficient units is marginal, but like with any mechanical stuff, it happens.

does exhaust play a major role in the supercharger world? Or is it not as important with turbo (i have a single exhaust that i had plan to use with t518z and on the flip side was thinking getting an Amuse dual for the quieter exhaust note)? And also how is the transmission hold up with this massive amounts of torque, do you foresee any potential problems in the extended use? thanks

@blindfold

the importnat part of the exhaust is the decat ... if you have a straight pipe and a good catback (Amuse is one of them) it will work just fine. No need for 3" massive exhaust, 60 - 65mm is plenty.

On the transmission, well so far it holds up well, but I treat it well too, no savage starts, not unnecessary hammering. I will soon replace the DriveShafts by Sti ones, and the tranny will be updated next January with the Dog gear Set from Greddy, that takes place in the original housing. That set of straight cut, dog type, gears is good for more than 600hp and 600nm. It also has closer ratios on 1 - 2 - 3 - 4, 5 is identical and 6 longer to catch 300 km/h

thank you so much for the reply, i am still debating between a t518z and this hks supercharger unit. I honestly only need smooth 300whp NA like power but for the past two days I have been daily driving a gt28 non rs, non ball bearing 86 and it seems plenty of fun with a bit of lag in between... making the decision even more difficult. With 39mm or even enlarged 42mm retrictor plate, i think 300whp might be tought to hit. Without the restrictor plate, how many pounds/bar of boost are you seeing and does it surge a bit without the plate at all? Regardless I am glad to see a strong HKS supercharged car out there, thanks again for sharing.

The only HKS remaining (still running, other 3 died) HKS SC in Russia that I know is running almost 1 bar on stock internals w/o restrictor and 700cc DW injectors. That should be really close to 300 whp with a high-power tune (no dyno graph yet), but I think to hit the 300 whp mark with this SC it's better to upgrade the engine internals as it requires >1 bar of boost.

... and another one bites the dust.

This last one standing failed this week too after couple of weeks at 1 bar.

Efferalgan,

I should mention to you the replacement I had ordered was switched to a new part number as the current unit in production is for the Ver. 3 kit just coming out. I had to pay significantly more to the dealer I had order thru this week and have them change the part# on the order but I am told it will still arrive late Sept.

Also, you should know the Ver3 part will be the same as the Ver1 unit, it will use the 5 bolt pulley attachment, not the 1 bolt on the Ver2. You might need to get another pulley. Apparently they do sell 5 bolt pulleys individually , but not 1 bolt.

HKS never was able to tell me I had initially ordered a supercharger that could only use a 1 bolt pulley until I questioned them several times over a period of a few weeks, and they kept misinforming me that the Ver2 used a 5 bolt mount that you helped me determine was incorrect.
