"Hey.

Longtime lurker first time poster. I'm a mechanical engineer and I'm going to design a better gearbox with eight speeds, first four will be close ratio, second four will be like an overdrive. Going to have the whole thing cryogenically treated when it's finished. The target is 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with a top cruise speed of 167 mph. Fuel economy should be much improved as well.

So. First off, I have a question. What final drive gear ratio would you recommend? Also, are there any reputable shops in the SanDiego area? The reason I ask is that one of my headlamps has been flickering lately and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I already tested all the fuses and relays so I know those aren't the problem. I'm wondering if it's my bulbs? Anyone ever tried the Super-Most-Brite bulbs? I already called their online help number but they only have a recording and I can't tell what language they're speaking.

I'm also thinking about doing a production run of these. So who would be interested? I'm probably going to start production in the next few months so if anyone would like to get in on a pre-purchase, the funds would really help me out to get the project started.

Alright, well that's about it. Shoot me a pm if you're interested in pre-purchase.

You can also follow me on twitter at SatanSpawnGearchange@twitterbug.net. That's the name of the gearbox I'm designing as well as my WorldOfWarcraft gamertag. "

After todays weather I really wish I wouldn't have listened to the guys that told me the wiper delete was a good mod. How much HP will I lose when I put them back on?

You Sir are an artist.
Just two minor points of constructive criticism:
Should say I "am" going to be an enngineer.
The spelling, grammar and punctuation are way too well done.

Dude, I did the wiper delete mod. Saved a couple of ounces and improved my MPG's.

However, I almost killed myself today while driving in today's weather.

"First of all welcome to the forum! This site is a wealth of information, and the guys are a really great source of knowledge. Introduce yourself here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7 if you haven't already.

Ok. Just to let you know, a lot of the guys here will probably give you shit for this eight-speed gearbox idea because it's already been done. Some Australian company already did it: AusiNewsKoalaClubGearboxes@Upsidedown.net. They're still in the pre-production stages as well but we should be seeing it here in the next few months. Fingers crossed!

SanDiego area huh? I was there once. I was in eighth grade and my parents took me to visit my Aunt Doris because she was starting to say crazy things on the phone and mom thought she wouldn't remember me if we waited until Christmas. I don't know any reputable shops there though.

So how much were you thinking for these gearboxes? I'm waiting for the Australian one but it wouldn't hurt to have more options. I'd probably be in if it was around $1k. Will it be a direct swap? Will I be able to do it in my garage? Anyway good luck and keep us posted! "
