I know we must be crazy Tcoat. Especially since apparently looks are the only reason one should buy a car.

To each their own as far as car looks go. The old WRX/STIs of any other gen may have been the greatest things on wheels but I was never interested because I just could not get past the looks of them.
The new style at least has some aggression to it that the old ones lacked (In MY eyes).

I am with Tcoat here. Never liked the looks of the WRX or STI until the 2011+ WRX hatch. Even then, it wasn't so beautiful to me but at least it had the aggressive looking fender flares from the STI. I traded my '11 WRX for a '15 WRX, and I think they have greatly inproved the looks of the 4 door compared to the previous model. And, the interior might not be the best in the market, but it is hands down better than the predecessor.

For me the looks weren't the #1 motivator though, I like the AWD and the small displacement turbo. This tank I am averaging ~7.5 l/100km just past the halfway mark, combined driving but the car still has balls.

Looks and ergonomics wise, I would have bought an Acura TLX or Lexus IS.

It's a matter of what features are important for you for the money. My wife would go for a Challenger or Mustang and I don't disagree if that's what you like. To each their own.

I am sure a Corolla feels like a Corolla to drive, I'll keep my WRX thanks.

It was a tough call between the WRX and the TLX. It would've cost me the same, but the funky nav, not wanting a v6, and AWD costing me another 10k pushed me into the arms of Subaru again. I keep hoping that one day Honda will bring me back...

I guess "butthurt" is the only term that you can throw out, which isn't at all surprising.

No "butthurt" here. If anything, looks like you're coming into this thread and trying to make yourself feel relevant by stiring the pot a bit. That's fine. There's a reason I bought this car; I even said that I personally am split on the looks of this car, but styling is 100% subjective. I've driven old WRX/STIs and also owned a WRX before the FRS.

Out of the ones I've owned and driven, I like the new 15+ the most from a driving perspective. The only thing I like better about the older ones is the overall size of the car and the seat height/driving position.

Luckily, you don't pay my car payments or insurance so you have nothing to lose sleep over tonight.

Well...looks like you got Tcoat on your side now
I will not disrespect my master. So I will await his command.
God I gotta get a new hobby.

I command you to dislike the looks of any car you want and to voice that dislike as you wish while keeping in mind that others will have the complete and total opposite opinion. Any argument on anything as subjective as looks is always a no win proposition.

Now I am off to make an account on the NASIOC forum to begin the next phase of my quest for internet domination.

The suspension is also deeper than just springs/struts; it's bushings, control arms, and more.

WRX is still the better bang for buck car without a doubt. Most people don't need a STI as all they'll do is drive the car around the street. Then again, most people with an STI don't need it either cause all they do is drive around on the street too lol. You definitely get your money's worth though when you spend the extra on the STI.

I always felt the previous gen WRX/STIs felt a bit sloppy and like they needed a good amount of work. The new ones are much better though. The WRX still leaves a lot to be desired though to me and while everything I had complaints about could be addressed through aftermarket, I've just grown so tired of spending so much damn money on building up cars.

The new STI though, f*ck dude... It finally feels like a complete car from the factory. I'm over a month in and by this point, I'm normally chomping at the bit to start modifying stuff. With this though, still perfectly content with being stock.

You can't go wrong with either choice, it's just a matter of what suits your needs/goals. The WRX and STI are definitely both worth their asking price in my opinion.
hehe, nice write up!

I agree with you on the car and how it feels.

I need a cbe to be stage 2! I just bought a catted cobb dp (used) and will install tomorrow. I will remove the sf intake and replace it with the stock airbox...:/

hows your car coming along?!

Actually, stage 2 only needs a downpipe. I'm not sure about the new FA motors, but the stock catback, intake, and TMIC are all good for around 400hp. Stock intake is also better because the plastic design helps keep IATs down compared to aftermarket solutions utilizing metal components. I see a lot of those aftermarket systems causing IATs to be like 20*F hotter than ambient temps; of course this varies based on your climate and other factors.

Mine is still as is. Bought a couple small bits for it, but nothing special. I move back home to California next weekend, so I've just been setting money aside. Once we get there and get settled, I'll move onto getting some parts. Looking at:
-brake pads
-brake lines
-brake fluid
-heat shield
-turbo blanket
-DEi gold wrap for TMIC
-AOS/dual catch can setup

That'll probably be it until spring time. At that point, I'll probably add RCE springs and additional components to dial in alignment. Maybe STI front lip as well. Motor is staying stock for the time being. I'm more focused on simplicity, reliability, and longevity, rather than power numbers.
