If you are doing UOA and still adhering to a manufacturer's recommended interval, it's a waste of UOA money. Your interval should be determined by additive consumption and oil condition + driving conditions. The interval is just meant for a catch-all scenario that covers all types of drivers under all types of conditions that the manufacturer has tested. And based on my own UOA, even w/ track events I'd lean towards changing the oil at longer intervals as it is holding up nicely. But what I said still stands: follow the change intervals if you have no other car experience. -alex |

It also comes down to enjoying putting the car up on stands and sliding around underneath to better appreciate what the designers and engineers gave us. The life of a car nerd, eh? |

I couldn't remember whether it did or not. That just lends weight to the argument that Subaru only did it to get people into the dealership to charge them for service more often.

10K oil change interval on 2015's?
Do it @ 6k if you want to be safe? I think if you alway remember to check your oil lv & look @ the oil itself it's easy to tell when you need an oil change or not. Another thing is you can alway feel your engine? I been on eneos for the last 15k mile. The throttle feel is very different as the oil gets older... 😅 or maybe that's just me? But it starts to feel sluggish over the miles.

Sounds like they have an approved list of oils, chiefly Mobil 1 and a few others.

They don't specify an interval based on track driving. I change mine every 5 or 6 days

Oil is a consumable, as in it also wears with use. I'll change it whenever I please.
