Why would you do this? In theory it would actually reduce performance. You have a factory velocity stack for smooth flowing air.
You may make the opening bigger but if its tumbling all over it has lost velocity. Additionally you have no water traps so in rainy weather you now soak your filter hindering flow https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_stack
