Exactly!

My experience has been the same-apart from a few grumpy old men who are in the "financial responsibility" church and against spending money in general and skeptical of "fun".

Back when I had my Fiat Spider, I used to have such nice conversations with elderly gentlemen who used to have one, or knew someone who had one, or knew someone who had one break down. The online community for those cars was also the best I've ever experienced. Very chill. I think I was probably the youngest owner on that forum.

the older guys really understand the car and really enjoy it for what it is
my father being one of them coming from a Datsun 240z really enjoys the spirit drives we take from time to time, i even let him drive the car and he smiles from ear to ear

IMO with todays car crowd, if it doesnt have a turbo/supercharger, the car is a POS, its slow, its not worthy of there time,
Not to mention that a very large part of this forum is much older then people would guess. The percentage will probably shrink though as the used ones get even less expensive and we see more and more of the much younger end of the spectrum buying them (and wing sales go through the roof).

All this ^^^

I got older dudes breaking their necks all the time with a few who know about the car. I also don't know why my dad doesn't want to drive my car. Maybe one day, he'll finally want to...

Bolded is why I avoid small nighttime gatherings and meets outside of FRS/BRZ's. At least in my area, Twin owners seem to be more respectful and friendly to talk to. The ones I talk to + encounter while driving anyways.

I can't go to most meets where it all young guys. They just call the police on the obviously delusional, old, homeless guy that apparently stole an FRS from some kid.

You forgot it HAS to have $3000 authentic wheels and stretched 215s across an 11 inch wide wheel.

This is like comparing a Miata to a Lotus. Try to at least keep it in a comparable price range.

I feel like it has to do a lot with young people caring too much about what others think about them, and how they are perceived by their peers. Older people tend to buy cars they like, and have matured enough to get past the "I'll look like such a badass, and get mass bitches with this whip" mentality. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule however as with anything.
