An O2 spacer can in some cases prevent a CEL, but it is not guaranteed. The only way to avoid a CEL for 100% sure is with a proper tune, and you really should be getting a tune with a catless header anyways.

Gotcha! So it's a 50/50 shot. I'm down for a tune but the problem is I live in boring oklahoma! There are no tuners, I have to travel to Dallas for the closest tune.

Many excellent tuners can do so remotely (moto-east, delicious, etc) if you want ecutek. Another option is the openflash tablet.

Of course, the absolute best option is always a dyno tune, but like you said, that's not always easy.

Bringing this back up cause I'm having problems with my Tomei UEL and OP.
Just recently installed it, with new gaskets. the headers came together not sure if you guys had to put it together, but I kinda figured that it would be set to go and put on so that's what I did. everything is bolted down tight from block to headers, headers to overpipe and overpipe to front pipe.

Now when starting the vehicle it sounded very lovely, love the rumble. gave it couple revs before putting back on plates just to check if I had any leaks, and it sounded just fine.
car is on ground afterwards and gave it a test drive on the freeway, now what I don't get is that, while driving and in gear while accelerating I would hear a slight leak/bleed... 😪

I haven't done any water soap or shop vac trouble shoot.. I would've if I heard the leak in idle, while rev'ing.. someone please help, cause the noise is driving me crazy..

I have a tsudo uel header and I have what sounds like air streaming/flowing/hissing after installing mine. I read that it's from the thinner metal of the header piping (compared to oem) and no heat shield which results in you actually hearing exhaust flowing through piping. Not sure if we're talking about the same sound here though.

Does it sound a bit like sand spilling into the pipe? kind of a gritty, almost raspy (more than airy) sound? If so i've got that too... and based upon responses around here it is normal. You should only really hear it while accelerating, not during idle. I think it is just the way it is!

could it happen to be from where the headers joint together ? where you can adjust ?

blahhhhhh I am on stock exhaust so yes I hear my headers more than anything else in the damn car, hopefully when I pick up my expreme test pipe the sound will overcome it lols! thanks you so much bro for your feedback.

I had the Borla UEL with stock exhaust and this noise was louder than the rest of the car but it is definitely reduced or at least hidden by a catted resonated Milltek exhaust. It is still quite loud though.

If you can't smell it, you're not leaking, it's just the sound of the pipes. The header to over pipe connection is the usual suspect, but you will smell it if it's leaking.

Hey guys so I installed my Tomei UEL's last weekend. Two days later, my CEL came on as I am waiting for my Open Flash to arrive. A day after that I started noticing my car would kinda jerk when decelerating at exactly 10mph. The issue persists even when I am not using the brakes, however it does not occur when the car is thrown into neutral and allowed to decelerate. What could be the cause of the jerking motion and will my tune with the OFT possibly fix it? My buddy thinks the car is jerking because my car is running lean without the proper tune. Also here is a sound clip of the set up with my Berk muffler delete. Pure Eargasm.
