Make sure you press the brake pedal lighter then gas it.

Back in my day a burn out consisted of just flooring it at launch and spinning the tires really fast. This was impressive.
Holding the brakes and spinning the tires was a brake stand. This is what you did in Daddy's Buick and only impressed non car folks. Has this changed? Is my terminology all screwed up now?

Sometimes I wonder in here why questions are not just simply answered and when other members don't have an answer or guess, harassment is given instead. I see this as a very common thing in here the more I sift through the site and try and learn about the car. A little joking is fine here and there but some people take it too far when others are just looking for an honest answer. Not every seemingly silly question is not a call to troll. There are some drivers out there with this car being their first. This isn't my first car but I still didn't understand why the car was holding back at the 2-2.k RPM mark either until I found the thread in here below I posted. I don't see why when this subject comes up, some people act like this is a new concept. Whether people want to believe it or not holding the brake and giving it gas does indeed make the car leave a little quicker off the line. It is the same as holding the car at 4k and dropping the clutch on a manual.
This is not that hard to understand here. Up until this car every one of the automatic vehicles(multiple car, trucks, vans) I have owned were able to have the the brake and gas pressed at the same time and you release the brake at any RPM you want to "launch" the vehicle. To the OP, this thread gives you exactly the answer you are looking for: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8283 You just have to mess around with it and learn to find the sweet spot where it lets you get past that 2-2.5 RPM mark it seems. Several people describe how it's done in there. Edit: Fixed link Last edited by Impureclient; 07-22-2015 at 10:30 PM. |

Finally, someone who understands. It's fun to see people joking but it sucks wanting to find an answer and not being able to find it. Thank you so much for your help. I knew there was a way because I did it once and I spent all day last night trying and I couldn't get it.. I'll look into it! thank you
