FRS won't rev passed 2.5 for launch.

Hey guys. I'm new here. Also, this is my first actual car I've been building on my own and I'm a noob to all these (forgive me). I currently own a 2013 FR-S AT (I know, I know.. should've got MT) and I noticed it won't let me rev passed 2.5k when I'm holding the break down.. This sucks so much because I can't burn out or launch. The other day I somewhat did a burn out by holding the break all the way down, letting it go little by little and flooring the gas. I had VSC off and it just fishtailed forward but I can't do it anymore.. help!!! I feel like my car loses power every once in a while. I'll step on the gas all the way down and it takes forever for it to accelerate.. any help with that? thanks guys. I appreciate the help

what mode did you have the transmission set in?

and why are you doing burnouts?

I usually move them around. I'll sometimes have it in the manual mode. I notice the only way for me to get torque is to down shift and floor the gas.. other wise the car takes so long to rev up. I'm getting new wheels tomorrow so figured I might as well have fun with my Prius tires. lol

weird, the manual transmissions require this method too... must be something wrong with the twins!

LOL at burnouts in this car.

You cannot rev past 2.5k because you have reached the "brake stall" speed of the torque converter.

Here is a good explanation what that means:

And here is a thread on what to buy to get past that (new torque converter):

is there a way to bypass that without spending that much money? Like a fuse/chip that can be removed? I know there's a way by easing off the break a bit.

try starting your burnout by turning.. like a mini donut.

oh wait.. that's drifting.

I'm pretty sure this is a standard safety feature on all Toyota AT-transmission cars after the TOYOTA: "MOVING FORWARD" incidents.

that was proven to be a giant hoax..

ohhhh silly americans, blaming their own inability to drive on the car..

I didn't know you could do a burn out on a twin. I have mt and I've never been able to do one, there's a bit of wheel spin but that's about it.

No, it is a mechanical / design limitation.

Here's some more information on how a torque converter works, and why there is a stall speed:

Hey, it was enough for them to release firmware updates on my parent's Highlander so it could only rev to around 2k with the brake on. It was enough to get sued over it. It was enough for them to change their motto.

Whether you're joking or not, it's really hard to tell... _/(*-*)\_
