Damage? highly unlikely it will damage anything. The ecu is conservative and loves to pull timing when it see's an issue. Hoewever you might throw a check engine light and i never verified if that code actually changes the performance of the car.

As for the tune with ECUTek in odd scenarios such as that typically they will allow you to remove the license from the car (YOU HAVE TO REMOVE IT FIRST!) and after thats proven that it was removed and that you prove you purchased a replacement car or that you had yours swapped out for something like a warranty issue they will re-issue a new license. OFT is also transferable to the new car by unpairing and reverting the car to stock.

Your tuner should be able to help you with either of these setups =)

Also moving your tune from auto to manual is just a few minute job so I'm sure your tuner would work something out with you.

I ran mine without a tune for almost 6 months, no damage. The new header will make your car throw a CEL and eliminate your cruise control so if you don't mind that you can run without a tune no problem.

If you really want the manual then put on your header and run without a tune until you get it and swap everything over instead of paying twice for a tune. Besides when you get the manual tune you get additional options (if you go Ecutek of course) that the automatic simply doesn't get like launch control and flat foot shifting.

Be advised if you are going with anything other than the header, the front pipe is different between the manual and the automatic so save your money and get the manual front pipe if you truly intend to go full header back exhaust.

I think I recall nameless came out with an op/fp combo that was a universal fit. JDL has a different front pipe for the manual and automatic. The difference is minimal, but there was a difference....I found out the hard way when they shipped me the manual one instead.

Just in case you missed from JDL's website for each item:

Special Order Notes
All manifolds, hot part kits, custom intercooler kits, and full turbo kits are built upon order unless otherwise stated.
If you opt for coating the wait time will be 4-5 business days after header completion.
JDL built to order manufactured parts are non-refundable.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for completion of said parts.
Build times are also subject to change without notice depending on current workload

My bold.

I was more trying to make a point that it may take some time, and I haven't received a real update in over a month. By the way, I was quoted 2-3 weeks when I ordered.

But I'm trying to not be impatient, I know the wait is more than worth it, and top notch products take time. JDL

I was also quoted 2 weeks for the header and resonated FP/OP combo pipe . A few days after placing my order i decided to have everything black thermal coated . I knew the 2 week timeline was unrealistic as i placed my order a few days before the July 4th Holiday. We are on 4 weeks now and i'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for the delivery guy

We were down a fabricator for the past 2 weeks so that put us back a bit. Headers are on the current workload being built. They will start shipping the end of the week as they are complete. Give us a call if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Ronnie

@JDLAutoDesign I just noticed on your website you have a recirculated catch can. It looks nice! Will you do a new thread about it? Mostly I am curious about how it is baffled/filtered and whether it will fit a RHD 86.

Catted UEL Header without a tune

The catted UEL header is designed to be able to run without a tune just fine correct?

In theory, yes. However, even catted aftermarket headers have thrown CELs on occasion. You would also get much more out of the header with a tune.
