I've read great things about 303 and Gummi Pfedge. The latter being hard to find.
Will see if O'Reilly's near me has 303. Thanks. |

Well, first off, it would take the sun longer than a week (even California sun) to do almost any kind of damage to a car. I suspect you are "looking" for things ..... that may not be significant or not even exist at all. Like mentioned above, if it makes you feel better, get some of that stuff and put it on the weather stripping. Meanwhile, it’s one thing to be proud and fret over a new car ...... it's another thing to be paranoid over the car getting "hurt". Take it from ol humfrz, ….. take "reasonable" care of the car, but DO drive it ..... it exists to serve YOU ....... NOT the other way around ...... ![]() humfrz Last edited by humfrz; 07-21-2015 at 12:15 PM. |

Er... ok? Thanks for the... advice I guess?
Anyway, the discoloration is most definitely there and if you've done anything by posting your slightly dismissive reply, it is confirm that the weather stripping shouldn't be discolored already. Yes, paint chips, scratches, blemishes will come. My wife scuffed up the inner door area by dragging her heel across it while getting in the car not less than 24 hours of owning the car. She also put a small scratch on that side of the car at the same time with her purse. That's no big deal (well the scratch is irksome). That I can live with because it was human error, not a defective part or shoddy craftsmanship. If everyone else said the same thing happened to their car, I'd be relieved and not think twice. However, you yourself confirmed it shouldn't be damage so quickly by the sun. So for that, I say thanks again. |

I just went out and looked at mine. it looks the same. It looks like it's just the way it's manufactured. I thought I was picky, I hadn't even noticed it. never will again.

It's normal. its rubber weatherstrip exposed to the elements so it will lose its brand new shine rather quickly, especially considering the window is constantly dragging whenever you open and close the door or roll down your windows.
It's not a cosmetic item, its a rubber seal meant to keep water out of your car. Unless its cracking/coming apart it's not defective. It's simply lost its luster. If you're that worried about it, take some non-greasy protection such as the 303 and wipe it down. Will look darker for a short period of time. Unless water is pouring into your car during a rainstorm or wash its fine. Any sort of rubber will do that rather quickly when exposed to the elements. |

I'll probably end up getting that 303 and just making it part of my car wash routine.
When I washed my car for the first time, I noticed quite a bit of water went into the car and ended up on the inside of the window. It didn't make it past the weather stripping, though it seemed close. When I opened the door, there was a border of water all around the inside of my window. Just thought it was kind of weird. Never seen a car's striping let some water in like that. It was on both side so I assume that's just normal. |

If this has you bent out of shape already and you are going to respond to some of the best advice on here (as per above) in such a manner then I anticipate many hours of entertainment as you panic over every squeak, click and perceived "defect" that is going to manifest itself with these cars.

I started using this MeGuiar's stuff first day I had it, and I used it on all the weather stripping and dash, interior bits. Wanna get a jump on protecting the multiple plastic and rubber compounds they put in this car. UV resistant, non greasy or greasy looking on the dash and other parts.
