I got mine from Carlsen up in Redwood City, but before all of my optional stuff (LoJack, PermaPlate, extended warranty/maintenance) my SSM Limited 6MT was 32k out the door. 28k MSRP, 1k markup, plus sales tax, doc, and DMV fee.

Dealing with the dealership itself was fantastic. Larry Fung (the internet sales manager) was awesome. He was up front with everything, and kept me in the loop the whole time. He even sat in the car with me and made sure that I knew how the satnav worked, and got my phone paired up with Bluetooth.

Their finance manager, Steve, was also great. He broke down the cost of everything for me, let me know exactly how each option would affect my monthly payment, and even sat down with me and worked a few different scenarios with me to make sure that I was comfortable with how much I was putting down and what my monthly payments would be. All in all, it was one of the best car buying experiences I've ever had.

You paid a $1K mark up! Dang I thought us BRZ/FR-S folks knew better.

I agreed to it because otherwise, I was waiting unknown number of months to get my actual pre-order. I basically see it as paying the extra 1k to have a car *right now*.

I just heard from my sales guy at Capitol Subaru that two more BRZ's came in today with ETA's after mine. I am not a happy camper at this point. When I bought my MINI Cooper S back in 2002, I could track it on MINI's website through the production process, on to a boat, when it hit the port, distribution center, transport truck, and finally delivered to the dealer. And that was 10 years ago. It seems that the most recent delivered BRZ's are getting picked up before some that were delivered days earlier.

That's the thing though. Mini REALLY takes customer service seriously. They are my 2nd choice if these dealers in the area keep trying to upcharge everyone.

Sorry to hear that man. One of those BRZ's that came in was the one I ordered. I've never ordered a new car, but I had an ex-coworker that had the same experience with you in regards to the mini cooper he ordered. I was expecting it to be the same type of experience but it has/was not. Hopefully you get your car in soon.

What number were you on the pre-order?

Which is exactly what it is.
It's an impatience/gotta have it fee.
Set of track rims and wait another few months or get the car today?

I'd think it would be a pretty easy decision: wait

I was #6 overall, but because it was WRB Limited 6MT, it was looking like I would be earlier in the allocation/delivery process. A better way to manage this IMHO:

1) Set the expectation with the customer, and meet or exceed that expectation.
2) Have an organized logistics team that works on a FIFO basis and provides better details to the dealer. It's not real complicated.

MINI USA btw was pretty amazing. I received all kinds of free things in the mail for over a year. Things like a stainless steel MINI coffee mug that fit perfectly in the car. A MINI motoring kit. A key fob that would tell some of the electronic bill boards that you were driving by and it spelled out Hello and your name. Pretty cool marketing stuff. And I loved my car as well, I should have never sold it.

Time to chill out....

Hey,

Sorry if I came across to harshly. I fully understand your point. Enjoy! Can't wait for my BRZ.

Question for those of us in the Bay Area who have already gotten and will be getting their BRZ's: Does anyone plan on going to the weekly car meet @ Santana Row, if it even happens anymore?

I remember it was the case 2 years ago (never attended one, but have seen blocks @Santana Row, Stevens Ckreeck, etc).

Weekly is probably not for me. But I'll look forward to any drive event, not necessarily racing or autox. I'd settle for FOG-style drives&breakfast in the mountains with meet @pub or bar. FOG is this: http://ferrariownersgroup.org/

So what a difference a few hours makes. My car came in late this afternoon, and I will take delivery tomorrow at noon. Capitol Subaru, Ryan, was great to work with. No surprises, at MSRP, with the usual options on extended warranties etc., in the finance office. Very excited!
