One emission cycle on the rolling bench is 1000€ ( you can make 12 cycles a day, 6 days a week.)
You have like 100 engine dinos running at the same time and 20 rolling benches.

And that's just the price to run the test. You have to add the price of the guys that will process the results.

Costs are just crazy.
Let's not blow things out of proportion. OEM do some in-house development, and they definitely perform a battery of tests on the full vehicle assembly... but most of their work is coordinating with their Tier 1 suppliers. The development costs are built into the out-sourced component's per-unit cost.

In James Rubenstein's book, LINK to Google Books they state that development costs were ~$1000 per vehicle for a mass-market car in the 1990's. For a low volume vehicle like the GT86 a couple decades later, we might be $3-4000/car. Most dealers try to pass the delivery fee onto the customer, so most of the vehicle cost going into components, raw materials, factory tooling, human labor hours, dealership costs, and factory overhead.

oh yeah I wasn't suggesting one was better than the other! TMG will buy the ttx back if you want to change too. I've been wait for a set to appear somewhere for sale ;-)

Toyota UK have purchased a TMG cup car(2013 model with Ohlins TTX) . They had it at oulton park recently at a gt86 owners track day. They wouldn't let me drive it but I got a few hot laps in it driven by Lotus F1 reserve driver (and GP2 champion) Jolyon Palmer. Son of John Palmer Ex F1 driver and owner of the track.

The damping was impressive and ride over the curbs was stunning considering it was a light car on 12kg front and 14kg rear springs.

grip levels were insane on slicks.

Did you guys had the opportunity to try a 5000$ one way Penske versus a 5000$ 3 way JRZ or similar.

Does a race quality 1 way is faster than a top of the line track day quality 3 way ?

Those big boy racecars usually run 4-way setups. 2-way and 3-way are usually the norm unless sanctions tell them otherwise.

That probably gonna be my choice too. If price gets too high, I'll go for Nitron 3 way, as I'm in Europe.

Planning to give the Sachs coilover a try in the next year or two. Unfortunately Sachs, to my knowledge, doesn't have a full-blown track setup for the Toyobaru, but I'm curious to see how the one-way coilover stacks up against the competitors like Ohlins R&T and KW V3. Employee discount FTW!

Addiction to race parts is just fine. I'll start worrying when I'll dream about 22 inches wheels and lowered car

Make it happen. We are always open to developing high quality setups, however, the ability to work with manufacturers with good turnaround time is key to making sure high quality products are offered in a timely manner as well.
