Considering my 91 MR2 made 280 hp and 280 ft lb torque with a stock motor and upgraded turbo, I don't see what was wrong with my bullet proof 3S. I owned a 2ZZ and sprayed a 75 shot on it for over 3 years and it has over 200k miles on it.
So why are 4 cylinders so shitty? Oh that's right, Conor is trolling. |

. 200BHP is enough to make it competitive. The only thing even close is the Miata(<170BHP) and the RX-8(<240BHP) but the RX-8 is on it's way out. Then again people might do comparos with the Civic Type R, Cobalt SS, Focus Ecoboost, and quite possibly even compare it to Pony cars like the Mustang v6 and the Genesis Coupe .My bet is still that the FT-86 meets it's weight limit of 1200KG meaning 2800lbs. And if you strip the interior maybe 2600-2700lbs. with no Carbon Fiber(CF). At this point we'll be lucky to get a decent version of the FT-86. The only thing I've seen on the Subaru variant was way back when it was said they would be selling it in Europe only. Maybe we should start an email campaign to Toyota/Subaru asking not only for a comfirmation of the FT-86 in the US and Australia and Germany, etc etc, but a wishlist too. BoostJunkie and f1ver, can ask for 300HP stock. Conor, can ask for plenty of the "hoonage" factor. Snaps, can ask for a turbo version. what do you think? nothing says greedy, american like a wish list to a company during December. |

If the FT comes out turbo with ~280hp, I actually don't know what to compare it to... I can't think of anything that will weight that little with that amount of power, stock. modified is different.

^ Exactly my point
Another 35hp and the MR2 would have been a beast (would also be crazy for Toyota to put that much power into a cheap mid-engined car), like a Turbo FT86 with 280hp would be

No not, no would have been, already was. I've seen the tail end come around enough times in one to tell you. Pretty handy tool though, and more than quick. Arbitrarily, 13 second 1/4 mile and 5 second and some 0-60. That quick. 280+hp in a 2600-2800lbs FT-86 would be in 370Z territory. Easily. |

the back end will step out if i'm having some fun and hammering it around, but if i'm going for grip, there's plenty there.

My MR2 never lost grip if I wanted it to grip. You have to know how to drive, the MR2 was not forgiving for people without experience behind the wheel.

370Z - ~13.13 lbs/KW FT86 - 208KW, 2800lbs (at the top end of that scale ) - ~13.46 lbs/KW.Not to mention the extra work taken away from the brakes/suspension, tyres, etc. by having the lower weight... the FT would decimate the 370Z IMO...
