If you're worried about covering your deductible while it appears there's money spent on cosmetic or aesthetic things on your car you need to rethink your habits.

I understand that wrenching is therapy and modding is a way to occupy an idle mind, but there are ways to do it cheaper, and looks don't make it go.

I hope you take this as a lesson on priorities in spending. My lesson involved a blown engine the morning after picking my car up from a shop and being late for work. I decided I wasn't going to let anyone else touch my car. If it's going to pop, it's going to be MY fault.
Now I'm a mechanical engineer, so I'd say the lesson turned into a career.

What I did before was that the insurance sent me to a repair shop, that shop did their estimate gave me a copy and sent a copy to the insurance. I also asked to take the car to a shop that I know and trust. From there, I decided to have the shop repair it for me with OEM and aftermarket parts that I had installed. My insurance agent was very understanding.

That's currently my path, I'm doing a dual degree in mechanical engineering and getting a physics degree to back up my work. Cosmetic wise I spent less than $500. $150 on winjets. $30 on painted rims. 250 on a diy tablet install, etc. Like I said adulthood hurts.

I like to think I'm living the "broke college life" as well, but then you see how everyone else is living. I'm saving up for an 86, and I think that sentence alone means I'm not broke, even if it feels like it sometimes. Not trying to say you're rich, but owning that car already puts you well ahead of a lot of other people..

Sounds like you may need an economics class, I dunno man but seems like you are terrible with balancing your budget and priorities...

A method of data logging and tuning is always my first investment. It allows me to tweak, test, iterate, and analyze without having to spend any more money. It's invaluable.

How far into school are you? I've seen math minors be much more useful than physics. Knowing linear algebra, discrete math, and programming helped me much more in my school, and out of school, than anything else. I honestly don't know why linear algebra isn't required, it's awesome. My friend doubled in physics and then dropped it with one semester left because he felt it was pointless. He took partial diff eq instead.

I have another question, I currently owe 2.4k left on the car after 7 months of ownership. Will the accident effect my current agreement with the bank? As in car loans.

No. It will mean nothing to them.

Who was at fault? Regardless not sure why you would be going "broker"

If its your fault your insurance may go up a bit but least you don't need to pay for it out of pocket.
Because it was a homeless orphan he hit.

Always curious about these situations @BlackJesus - what was the outcome with the uninsured driver? I do hope they received more than a shake of the finger and pat on the butt, esp if you had to file a police report for your insurance.

Drivers without proper registration and insurance is a huge pet peeve of mine.
