3. I am looking to maintain my strength and lose a bit of fat
4. I am going to supplement my own protein in with it (whey isolate, going to add like 100-200G a day)
5. I want to support a company which is trying new things
6. I probably will add some solid food, here and there, but am going to give this an honest try for 2 weeks

This morning I had a shake along with a protein shake...taste was decent. Nothing offensive. Ill report back here as the days progress.

Heavy leg/glutes workout today, should be interesting to monitor energy and strength levels.
I was having health issues (mainly very high blood pressure) when my weight broke 205 lbs.
I am 5'9".
I had tried the "no/low carb" diet, and it worked great (>20 lbs in 2 weeks with no exercise).
Last time I tried it, I just stayed on it.
I went from 205 lbs to 170 lbs in about 4 weeks and have kept it off for 7 months now.

I took ALL PROCESSED SUGARS OUT of my diet.
No pasta, bread, candy, ice cream, etc.
I eat fruit & yogurt for breakfast, and huge salad for lunch and sensible dinner (fish/chicken & fresh veggies).
NO SNACKS around the house, except for healthy cereal or nuts.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say....I am 220lbs and happy about it. I was so underweight my whole life, I hated being so tiny (5'10" and ~145). 9 years of exercise and eating right and here I am...I don't want to lose weight.

Now, if you are just sharing your own story, that's great. Happy to hear it worked for you. Low carb/No carb is good to start, but I believe we should consume sweet potato, rice and oatmeal along with all the fruits and veggies (OH NO, scary carbs!)

I'm sorry, I didnt mean to derail your thread about "diet" with a comment about silly things like "diet".

Carbs are fine as long as they are natural carbs, and NOT processed sugars like 75% of the ingredients in most pre-packaged foods.
Potatos, rice = Good.
Corn Syrup or any of the other "ose's" (Glucose, Sucrose, etc.) = BAD.

One of your points was:

There is no better way to get your body to burn fat, then to remove carbs from the diet at least temproarily.
Look up Ketosis.

The Broscience is strong with this one!

Anyways, day 2 of drinking this sludge and I feel fine. Had a high volume quad/ham/glute day yesterday and felt great. No lack of energy. Everything else is status quo for now.

Added in about 150g of protein yesterday (soylent is ~80g on its own), with whey. Also taking my normal multi/green/oil/vit E supps with this. Flavor is still fine. Added a scoop of instant coffee and it tasted fine.

Had an absolute battle with gas/bloating last night for 3-4 hours, felt fine afterwards.

I have only read popular articles about Soylent; I have not looked at any science stuff backing it up.
My number one query about the product is what happens to one's digestive system when one is only consuming this as a source of food? Many people in western world are lacking fibre in their diet as it is.I have no idea what an all liquid diet would do in the long term to one's digestive tract.

As I am not trying Soylent this is just academic interest.

Made it to Sunday (5 days) and I am back to Normal food. Glad I tried it, but I was a bit tired and just missed real food. I ate a banana, pint of cherry tomatoes, bag of green beans and a chicken breast and felt great. The taste of Soylent, although plain, was starting to be a bit gross.

I say give it a try if you guys are curious, no doubt it was very convenient. Just not for me.

Seems like that's how it would end for most of us. That stuff is cool in theory and we'd be all over it if we were poor or otherwise underfed, but the reality is most of us eat things for taste and enjoyment rather than just meeting the basic nutritional requirements to live.

Agreed - and the fact that all my fat was from sunflower/canola oil was a bit unsettling. Carbs from Maltodextrin....i prefer veggies and fruit for my carbs.

1500 cal diet. I've lost 10lbs. Poo 2-3x's a week avg. It's due to my intake of food. I use up all that I consume. Maybe I'm just turning into Kim Jong Un...I am turning into a GOD!

...in all reality, the 1500 cal only works if you burn more than what you eat by walking, jogging or gym time.

Not a fan of soylent. Tastes horrible. Vitamin like taste.

p.s. dont forget to drink lots and lots of water bro's.

WTF! I poo 2-3 times a day!!!

Need to get back into the gym. Working 12 hour shifts in IT, I just sit around on my ass all day (now night) snacking along to keep my brain working.

haha try it. At first you poo normal, then it stops then it comes back but more limited. Of course, talk to your doctor first. 1500 cal sucks too because you cant eat like a burger. Easily hit 1000 cal in one food item.

Had a kabob full of steak tips, pepper, onions, and zucchini last night. It was glorious.

Going to compare todays' high volume leg day, to the last one.
