That's really the best way to do it. Watch your intake (quality/quantity) and regularly exercise. Just takes some awareness and motivation/commitment

One of my buddies at work has been doing this diet consistently for the last few months. With the protein and other supplements you're adding to the diet I would imagine you would end up getting stronger (assuming you stick with your workout routine) but put on more weight. Not sure on the % fat loss you might see with this diet.

Cop is right, Soylent isn't a diet designed for weightloss. It's more suitable for maintaining healthy weight.

My diet consists mainly of such things as battered, deep fried, bacon wrapped butter sticks covered in gravy and I weigh the same as when I was 20. My cholesterol, blood pressure and BFI are all well within the good section for my age group and I could probably kick the ass of half the young guys here. I am blessed and don't need to eat no stinking soylent.

Sounds like you did well in the genetic lottery! I am nervous that bad dietary habits will eventually come back to eff you later in life but only time will tell (speaking in general not you specifically). I feel like Soylent is a diet fad that people have started to pick up recently. The only reasons I can see for someone to go the Soylent route is for a) cost and b) simplicity. It doesn't take that much effort to prep healthy meals that don't cost much but I understand if you want it to be a non-factor in your life.

I just read an article about soylent recently. I too have been on a quest to get fit for the past few months.

Below I give my experience with meal replacement shakes and protein powders. And my take on the soylent.

Ultimately, I suggest exhaustively reading on the subject and making your own decision. Below are links to articles and product that you may find interesting.

Ok here we go!
Whey protein they say is the easiest to digest. It works for many people. Unfortunately not for me. My stomach would get upset after mixing a whey based protein shake. Whey is made from milk.

Now, I mix a shake of PlantFusion Protein Chocolate first thing when I get up. A protein shake in the morning will boost metabolism. Later in the day after each of my meals I add a meal replacement shake. I switch to the meal replacement shake because the macro nutrients percentages are different. I use Garden of Life's Raw Meal chocolate, though vanilla is great too. I am vegetarian. (I have never eaten meat)

Soylent's ratio of macro nutrients is not what I would recommend for everyone. It has 40% fat and only 17% protein. I keep my fat intake to 25-30% of my calories. Excerpt from article "Each daily pouch has 2,000 calories and is based off a carbohydrate/fat/protein ratio of 43/40/17."

This article talks about how different body types are benefited by different % ratios. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ask-...-fat-loss.html Honestly, suggested macro nutrient ratios are a jumping off point for your own diet. Each person's body will react slightly different to different kinds of foods and exercises.

I understand trying something new. I have been tweaking my diet for month. You are inadvertently becoming a vegetarian for two weeks. Soylent contains no animal products.

I believe in HIIT training. High Intensity Interval Training is a fast and effective way to loose fat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-i...erval_training

Meal replacement shake http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products.../RAW-Meal.aspx

Protein Powder http://www.plantfusion.net/products/plantfusion

The article I read. http://gearjunkie.com/soylent-active-lifestyle-review

Maybe I wasn't clear....I am a healthy 20s guy, who works out 6-8 times a week, don't need to change my diet, and just wanted to give it a try.

I like the idea of it and wanted to support the company.

Yes, you are correct, it used too. But, they are shipping their new improved formula now! I already have some, and it tastes better. Though flavor is not as important to me as how it makes me feel.
