I wonder if there is any chance the original owner did the clutch pedal adjustment that I've seen people do on here.

Might also be the throwout collar binding against the tranny front cover but I made the bet.

I'll update when they figure it out. It'll be a few weeks before I can go visit the dealer.

The car is a 15 certified used. Had 2 owners before me... Which seems crazy.

2 owners on a car less than 6k miles? Something smells wrong...

Certified by whom? Scion/Toyota?

I had a similar problem/issue/thingy? I remember making a couple of trips to town within the hour and suddenly realized my clutch felt extremely light. It was a lot of stop and go during rush hour lunch time, and my clutch pedal felt like nothing. That was a few months ago and it hasn't happened again even after pushing the car hard for extended periods of time to see if it happened again. Oh well, all's well as of right now.

It's a certified used toyota. The dealership said they didn't have any info on the previous owners. It is a scion just to clarify.

If you can feel the clutch still slipping when your foot is off the pedal, it is not engaging fully. Try revving the engine while stopped and quickly let out the clutch, suddenly- the tires might spin but the clutch should not.

It IS possible to use up a clutch in 6K mi if a persons slips it a lot when starting off, starting while going up hill, holding the car on an incline by slipping the clutch, etc.

I would think the Certified status would save your ass here-- part of being certified means it has been checked over and is up to specs. Had you gotten it from a private party or Joe's Used Cars, it might not be covered.

But basically the diagnosis is correct--If you are talking about the throwout bearing that sits by the clutch disc, its the same net result-- the tranny has to come out.
