I consider myself an enthusiast. My past few cars include a pair of E39's, a '97 Miata (with a bunch of Flying Miata goodies), a first gen Firebird, my WRX of 12 years, and the BRZ. I try to hit the canyons for a drive when I have time.

A new STi isn't appealing to me - its too much money and still uses the old engine. I like the '05 styling - and have liked it since 2004. So not really going after a "new fad", but considering buying a car I've wanted for 11 years. The new WRX is under consideration - but some things I've read about it make me hesitate.

The new Focus RS I've been following. An AWD hot hatch is just fun, if done right.

The new Focus RS will cost as much, if not more than an STI. I would say go drive the new STI and WRX back-to-back and see for yourself. I always hesitate recommending people buy used STI's. For one, they still are kinda pricey, and for two many of them have been beaten to hell and back and by the time you spend money on out of pocket repairs and issues, you almost could have bought a new one.

But your 7k miles in three years implies to me you're not much of a driving enthusiast but just has the money to throw on the newest fad. Now that three years has past and everyone and their mother has a twin you want to switch to the next fad. An "STI." So thus i say do it, just get the sti. Hell the next civic si is listed to run about 300hp along with the awd speed 3. As long as your happy.
Think you meant wrx lol

definitely, I would never buy a car like that used, I learned my lesson with my last evo. Buy new, and you will likely save money in the long run anyway.

Sell the BRZ and build your 03 WRX. Full +04 sti drivetrain + interior, 2.5 hybrid motor, 2.2 turbo, or full jdm 03 sti swap are all great options. If you love the form factor but want something a bit nicer/faster, building what you have is the way to go.

Am I the only one seeing that, he already decided on his decision? Not trolling or rude here... but over dozen of ideas were brought up, but all of em were thrown out of the window.

Your mind is set, sell BRZ and get 05 WRX/STI.

Simple as that

Ahhhh so you do share my frustration with some of these "what should I do" threads!

7,500 miles in 3 years? Everyday I can't wait to drive my car and you barely drives yours.

For what it's worth, I've had both a '15 STI and a '15 WRX as demo's from work. I put about 2-3k miles on each - still have the WRX at the moment. The '15 STI is cool and for a daily, I would probably get it instead of an FR-S/BRZ. I didn't fall for the WRX quite as hard though, I'm not very thrilled driving it even as a free demo.

Not really frustration. Cuz I've been around here too long that, I don't get frustrated by it anymore. I might be lil bit more blunt, but won't lie saying to keep the FRS/BRZ when they have already decided.

How come you don't like the WRX? Just curious.

Bring your dad to the dealership (if he has a much better credit score and he isn't too old for driving) and act as if he is thinking of buying it, and convince them to let him "test drive" it for the weekend. Dealerships do allow this if the potential buyer has a good enough credit score.

This should give you a really good idea with what you should do.
