Trade my BRZ for an STi??
I've had my BRZ for 3 years now - and a grand total of 7,500 miles driven. Its a fun car but I find myself driving my bugeye WRX more often, just out of comfort and ease of driving. (and better back seat access to belt my kid in).
Wondering if I should trade my BRZ for a new WRX or even a 2004-2007 STi? Bought my '03 WRX 11+ years ago (!) and have always liked the STi, especially the 2005 model. My WRX is a wagon - the handling of the BRZ greatly trumps that of the WRX but the STi has 300hp, a 6 speed, and back doors. Hmm. Cost about $20k for a nice low mileage one. Then again, the new WRX is modern, decent power, more rear seat room, and includes a new car warranty. Cost though is $27k. I'd be keeping my '03 in either case bc Subaru isn't making a WRX wagon anymore! |
The new WRX STI center tunnel is so wide I can't even heel and toe the gas pedal with my heel (I wear US size 11.5 to 12 shoes). I don't recall the GD having this issue. The overall driving position isn't that great either with this new one and the last gen's WRX. IMHO BRZ just sits perfect the moment you get in.

If you're going to keep your '03, then why get another WRX? If you end up driving the new one more then you'll wonder why you bothered to keep the '03. If you still drive the '03 more, you'll wonder why you bothered getting a new one that you don't use.
Since you already have a fun car, then get a vehicle that does something the WRX can't. |

Based on that, I say go for it. Don't even bother test driving the STI. Just order it and trade in your BRZ. Then be sure to come back and tell us how that went. |

give me the brz lol

Sell your BRZ.
Get the new STi. /thread |
7,500 miles in 3 years?? Yeah it sounds like you don't prefer to drive the BRZ over your wrx. I say test drive the new wrx/whatever sti year you're interested in. If you like how it is and could see yourself driving it more than your 03, sell the brz.

I'm thinking a new STi or WRX as well as the BRZ>... but not until the BRZ is paid off... 2.5yrs...
Looked at used but damn the STi and WRX hold their value something stupid... |
e39, wrx, and brz...
why would you keep the wrx and get another wrx or sti? if you aren't interested in driving the brz anymore, why not sell that and the bug eye and then get a newer wagon wrx or sti? |
BRZ is paid off so without dipping in to my bank, I have that value to work with - which gets me a really nice STi. Won't have enough for new WRD but thats what rainy day funds are for.
Two WRX does sound like a conflict though - but one being a high hp sedan would add some variance. Oh, I only drive my WRX 5,000 miles/yr - so 2/3rds of the time. If Subaru would just make a WRX wagon again... I think a 2005 would feel too close to my 2003 though. New WRX could at least retain push start. Meh - maybe I'll give it another year and see what Subaru is offering or has planned. (sold the E39 today - it sat taking up garage space. Wasn't for me.) |
get a forester and do an STI swap. best of both worlds. probably don't even need an STI swap, just mod the forester and it'll probably be better than an STI power-wise
|
IMO, if you have only driven your car 7500 miles in 3 years, you don't love it. I drive my car just for the sake of driving it. Its like a woman, if you don't want to spend time with her, upgrade or change. Just please don't get a mustang.

What's wrong with a Mustang!? :D
